How much is a body kit for a 2010 chevy camaro? Also how much would it cost to put 4 mufflers in the camaro?

How much is a body kit for a 2010 chevy camaro? Also how much would it cost to put 4 mufflers in the camaro?|||why make the camaro look like crap.. their isn't a body kit that looks better.. however probably run around $1300 for a body kit.. and 4 muffler or 4 exhaust tips? adding 4 mufflers would make it flow like crap.. learn about how cars work first|||Just thought I'd point out the fact it's a muscle car and not a ricer. If you put a body kit on, look for something that isn't ridiculous like the **** they put on Civics, bumblebee from transformers 2 was tasteful.

Anyway, look at prices anywhere from 1300 to 2500 depending on the kit/material and components.|||Google body kit for a Camaro, there's not just "a" body kit for the car. Like LS1 said, why do that? It'll make it look like crap. Four mufflers? REALLY? Please go buy a Hon-duh and do that stuff.

What is the best hydraulic roller cam for a Chevy 383 street rod?

I am completely rebuilding a Chevy 383 motor from bare block and i wanted help on what is the best hydraulic cam that would take my motor all the way to the highest performance but still be able to drive it on the road because i want it really HOT but not just a strip car.|||There is no BEST camshaft for the SBC. The best camshaft would be the one that best fits your application.

Selecting the best camshaft for your application is almost a black art. Get it wrong and your high dollar engine is a dog. Get it right any you will be all smiles.

All camshafts are a compromise. They operate at their peak performance at a relatively narrow RPM range. A common mistake is to select a cam that is too hot for a street engine. For example you buy a cam that makes its best power in the 7000 RPM range. The problem is that how often do you run a street engine at 7000 RPM and for how long. You end up with an engine that performs like crap in the 3000 to 4000 RPM range and does really bad at the 2500 RPM range where your street engine runs 99.9% of the time.

The cam must also matched to the intake manifold and exhaust. These components are also tuned to operate best within a specific RPM range.

Other items that effect the camshaft selection are things like if you have an automatic or manual transmission, the differential gear ratio, the weight of the vehicle.

There is a program from Comp Cams called Cam Quest. You could use this program to help you. You fill in as many of the blanks as you can and the program will find the best cam for your application. You can even run your engine on a virtual Dyno to see how changes effect your engine. You don't necessarily have to buy their cam. You could use any cam with a similar grind from any other company. However their camshafts aren't bad.

What do my dashboard warning lights mean on my Chevy Cavalier?

I have a Chevy Cavalier 2004. There's a red symbol on the upper right-hand side and looks like a little red symbol with an arrow pointing down through the top of a box, then it shows some liquid in the bottom of the box. What does this mean? I never received a Manuel for this car.|||Go to GM.com and download an owners manual for your vehicle...it will explain all warning lights.|||Most likely, you need a new engine

How hard is it to clean injectors on 1994 Chevy Truck?

I have 1994 chevy pickup truck with early fuel injection. While looking for a vacuum leak I noticed one of the injectors dripping fuel. How hard is it to take that injector ssytem off and clean the injectors? What type of cleaner should I use? Or can I dump bottle of injector cleaner in the fuel tank first?|||this injector is called a multech. by adding a cleaner to this system all you are cleaning is the screen. gm designed these to be throw away injectors. they are very cheap new. just put a new one in.|||You should use a bottle of injector cleaner every 3-4 tanks of gas to keep your injectors clean. It is easier and cheaper than having to clean them, or to have them cleaned. Use STP fuel system cleaners, or a tank of Chevron gas. These are the best injector cleaners on the market. Fix the leak and use fuel/injector cleaner in the tank.

What do I need to do to get my Chevy Cavalier fixed?

I have a 2003 chevy cavalier coupe and both of my power windows are not working as well as the speedometer and rpm nor do they light up. Also my power locks are not working. What kind of specialist do I need to see and what could be the cause of my problems?|||SOunds like you have a bad fuse somewhere, if everything went our at once.

Can a 358 Chevy engine work in a 1972 dodge charger?

I was just wondering if a 358 Chevy engine would work in a 1972 Dodge Charger.|||I'm sure it can be done. The issue would be motor mounts and a bell housing adapter. You can find bell housing adapters at www.advanceadapters.com .The rest is just a matter of fit and wiring....provided you can find or make mounts....or use a chev trans! Good luck.|||Just telling us a '72 Charger doesn't give us enough info to determine very much. Assuming the tranny will bolt up, YES. Assuming the tranny won't bolt up, YES. Assuming the motor mounts won't line up, YES.

Seriously, I don't know if the motor will WORK, as in bolt right up, in your car or not. However, if you're asking CAN you put it in there, YES. You can put ANY engine into ANY car if you're willing to overcome the obstacles in your way like motor mounts, linkage differences and such. I've said this same thing numerous times on Answers, and I always offer the same example. With much hair pulling, fabrication, and just plain cussing, I once put a Ford 460 into an old Chevy Luv pickup.|||Sure, you can put any motor you want in a car, but its how much work you want to do to get it in there. You just gotta get motor mounts that will work for that motor and put a lot of work into the car to get them to work|||We put a man on the moon using 1960's technology. You can put a Chevrolet engine in a Dodge. It's a lot easier than putting a man on the moon.|||Yes, you can, but change your name to $$$$.

Why not use a MOPAR motor? 340's are great to work with, put out good power and are pretty much bullet proof.|||haha wtf no

What is the normal running temperature for a 99 chevy blazer before it is considered overheating?

i just had a heater core put in but it is still blowing cold air. one person says it is running hot and another one says it is normal. is 190 or 210 the correct normal running temperature for a 99 chevy blazer? what else could be causing the air to still be blowing cold instead of hot?|||ANY OF THOSE TEMPS ARE HOT ENOUGH TO MAKE THE HEAT BLOW HOT. THERE ARE TWO PARTS IN YOUR DASH TO CONTROL THE TEMP COMING OUT THE VENTS. ONE IS THE EVAPORATOR (MAKES IT COLD USING A.C.) AND THE OTHER IS THE HEATER CORE (MAKES IT HOT). THERE IS A DOOR BETWEEN THE TWO THAT IS CONTROLLED BY AN ELECTRONIC ACTUATOR. WHEN YOU PUT THE CONTROL ON HOT THE DOOR CLOSES OFF THE EVAPORATOR, AND WHEN YOU PUT IT ON COLD, IT SHUTS OFF THE AIR FROM THE HEATER CORE. YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE THE HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY NOT SENDING THE SIGNAL TO THAT ACTUATOR, OR THE ACTUATOR IS DEFECTIVE. USE A TEST LIGHT AT THE CONNECTOR TO THE ACTUATOR. IF IT LIGHTS UP WHEN YOU SLIDE THE CONTROL FROM HOT TO COLD, THE CONTROL IS SENDING THE SIGNAL AND THE ACTUATOR IS BAD. IF THE LIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT UP, REPLACE THE CONTROL ASSEMBLY.|||completely depends upon the temperature of thermostat that is installed... 190 192 195 are all thermostat temps I have come across... so 210 might be very slightly high... also are you going by the factory temp gauge or professional shop one... factory gauges can be off this small amount...

I have a 96 Z28. It is bright red and the paint code is 81. My question is, Am I only going to be able to purchase this paint from Chevy? The second Question is who does Chevy use to produce the paint they use and can I contact them directly?|||DuPont, PPG and BASF are the 3 paint providers, any reputable automotive paint supply will be able to match your paint code via computer which is very accurate .

What replacement bulb can I use for my 2005 Chevy Equinox's rear side marker lamp?

I am having a hard time finding the replacement bulb for my rear side lamp (according to the manual). The manual states the front one is bulb number 168 but the rear is W5W, which I can't find in store or online. Can I use the 168 as well in the back or do I need to go to a Chevy dealership? What is a good Chevy i could use for mudding?

Im thinking:

1. The new Chevy Silverado 09 1500

2. The new Chevy Colorado 09

3. 1996 Chevy Z71 Silverado M8

or if you have a better truck please put it down. It has to be Chevy! Im going to raise the suspension also like 7 inches or more.|||well i have a 98 Silverado Z71, id' say if your looking for a truck just for mudding or something for the weekends then go for the older one, don't use a brand new truck for mudding, use the rest of the money for upgrades, plus the insurance won't be as much

How many Chevy Chevettes are left in this world? And are they good on gas?

I saw one the other day, it was in great shape.....It was that chevy light blue from the 70's.|||Chevy Chevettes were made from 1976 - 1987.

I personally have owned 7 Chevettes. Chevettes worst problems were these: floor would rust out, and shock towers would rust out. I've learned how to replace both. Timing belts weren't to bad but the secret w/ them was not to over tighten the belts or they would fail very early. Gas mileage w/ automatics was about 25 city 30 hwy, 4 speed cars was about 27 city and 35-40 mpg hwy. It would depend on what final gears you had in the rear end. Basically good cars but you just couldn't run the pee out of them continuously. They were like any other car, they had there bad days too.|||They actually weren't too bad on gas (40+ mpg), and they never had a problem with exploding when hit because the fuel tank was tucked within the unibody rails. (Pintos had the reputation for exploding, which was blown out of proportion by the media). They were not the most reliable cars sometimes, and were butt ugly and had less power than most electric bicycles, but there are still lots of them around. Some weekend off-road rally racers like them because they are cheap, light, rear drive, and can carry a monster motor.|||I remember replacing a lot of timing belts and crankshaft bolts but other than that it was not to bad a car for that era.the power is not to great and comfort is at a minimum.30 mpg,s is about average with automatic ,higher if equipped with stick.|||I don't the first answer. But I owned one when they were new. They suck. They break down a lot. Stuff I've never seen break would break (like the door hinge). The only thing good about the car is that it is so low tech that it can be fixed fairly easily. And you will need to fix it often.

And the engine is weaker than my grandma.

I would rather buy a good used Civic.

Good Luck...|||OMG, I used to run around in one of those in the late 70's early 80's! We had so much fun in that little car. I don't know how they are on fuel though. Doesn't the high price of gas just suck? The oil companies wont finish until they have broken every ones back!|||Anything that old is bad on gas.|||those cars have a nasty reputation of exploding during a accident.

What kind of speakers should i buy for a high end system in my chevy malibu 2000?

I have a chevy malibu 2000, and im looking to upgrade my sound system.

When it was my dads car he upgraded to a new reciever made by jvc with removable face etc. i think im going to stick with it for now.

I have 2 6x9 speakers in the back and 2 4x6 speakers in the front.

Im planning on buying replacements for all the speakers and eventually some nice subs and an amp.

I dont know much about stereo systems, im planning on buying the parts on ebay and getting a freind to help me hook it up. How many miles do you have on your Chevy Cobalt?

I'm thinking about purchasing a used chevy cobalt and was wondering how many miles other cobalt owners have gotten to. Thanks.|||I've got 33k miles on my 08 SS/TC. I've only had 2 problems with mine in about 2 years.

1. The sunroof needed to be adjusted the 1st winter. It got cold and started whistling when I was on the highway. Dealer fixed it for free and its been fine since.

2. The rear inside pads destroyed my rotor at around 22k miles. This seems to be a common problem with the turbocharged Cobalts where the inside pad drags causing uneven wear. Mine were worn evenly and still had about half the pad left. Got them replaced under warranty. The new ones have no grooving.

Someone on css.net has almost 200k miles on his Cobalt with nothing more than normal wear and tear fixes.|||dont buy chevy. beware. thats all im going to say. get a fusion if you can afford it. or a nissan or something.|||I have a used 2007 Chevy Cobalt with 43,000 miles. If you plan on buying it, just be aware that there is a recall on its power steering. So make sure to ask if that has been fixed on the car yet. It normally goes out around 40,000 miles or so.

How to change the alternator on a 96 Chevy?

1996 Chevy 3/4 ton 350. The old alternator has only 1 wire but the new alternator has 3. How do i change it?|||First confirm the "new " part is the proper part.

Call parts supplier and tell them your question.

Safety first.

What is the amount of antifreeze put in chevy s10 truck?

I don't have the owners manual for my chevy s10 truck in order to determine how much I put in its container?|||fill it with a mix of half water, half coolant. fill up the radiator. start the truck and after a little you'll notice the coolant in the radiator go down. fill it back up to the top. turn off the truck. put the cap back on the radiator. now take the lid off the plastic overflow container and fill it half way. resecure the lid. BAM, you're done|||Opps I meant toecutter not ozman, thanks to toecutter. BAM I'm done.

|||hi the common approach is use a 50/50 anti freeze to water ratio to fill the radiator.|||usually a 50/50 mixture, and if its a newer model s10 you might want to use the red antifreeze instead of green.the green will corrode in aluminium parts quiker.i have an aluminium radiator that is new and i put the green iin it and i dont drive it.i checked it the other day and it starting to have corrosion build up in it already from the green.|||use pre-mixed coolant, probably take 5 quarts if empty. stop when level reaches proper line on reservoir.|||Good rule of thumb. use a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. Or you can use it strait out of the container. I prefer to use it strait. Why? Water can eat through head gasket material and cause aluminum corrosion. Anti-freeze acts as an anti-corrosive against head gasket failure and engine block corrosion and radiator corrosion. I have had 0-problems with aluminum engines doing this. plus after 90,000 to 100,000 i always re-torque the heads.

Is their an easy way to program the master window switch for a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer?

I just bought a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer LS 4x4 and the master window switch on the drivers side was broken, I bought a new one but was told it needs to be programed to work. How do I determine which rear end gear is in my chevy trailblazer?

I'm looking to buy a used Chevy trailblazer. I know that Chevy used three different rear end gears in the trailblazers. What kinds of features are included in a Chevy Police package?

Im looking to buy either a 2000 or 2004 chevy impala with a police package? what features do they have? stability control?|||Having worked in Law Enforcement for years, the Impala police package is not worth it. The cars themselves were throw away cars so add a group of guys that drive balls to the wall most of the day and the extra's that they add for the package get beat harder then a stock car. The Caprice or Crown Vic are MUCH better choices if you have your heart set on a police package car they are built alittle stronger. My Dept sells their cars on a regular basis for cheap money so they are out there. I f you do opt for an ex-cruiser I would go with an ex unmarked Detective car, they tend to be cleaner and less beat.|||Rebel that would be bars on the window %26amp; divider|||Wow - they'll let you buy it WITH the package?? 8X3 Bilstien shocks $275

7X7 Dual Spotlamps $250

Grand Total $2,590

Q: What's a 9C1 option? What does it do?

A: The police package is available on the Caprice for $1159 (1994, and probably 1995, too). You get a whole slew of police-edition specific equipment, much of which also goes on the Impala. However, the Impala does not get all of the special heavy duty equipment of the police package Caprice. It's generally cheaper to get an Impala and add on the missing equipment than to get the Caprice and bring it up to Impala standards, though.

How to put an electric fan on a Chevy Blazer?

What is the timing degree on a 350 chevy engine?

I have a 1987 Chevy Truck, need to set timeing, not sure where the timeing needs to be set.|||I own a shop, and can tell you this; You must go by the tag on the front of the radiator shroud, or the hood. If it is missing, then set it at 8-10 degrees with the connector unhooked under the dash behind the glove box (brown wire) that is by itself. Pull the plug apart, and don't forget to put it back when you are done. Run the engine till its at operating temperature, shut off engine, remove/unplug from brown wire, start the engine, set the timing, stop the engine, torque the hold down bolt to distributor, start engine %26amp; recheck timing, if good, stop engine, and replace/connect on brown wire. If you have a check engine light on, you can either wait to see if it goes out on its own, or remove (-) battery cable. I would wait due to loosing radio presets, and/or other things. It should go off in about 10 minutes or less on its own. Don't set your timing at anything other than what it calls for. Giving it just a little more timing doesn't help. This is because the computer controls the ignition timing anyway after the engine comes up to operating temperature.

Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!|||Most of the 350 that are fuel injected by means of a TBI unit have a base timing of 0 degrees although I always tried to get more by means of giving the base timing about 2 to 4 degrees before top dead center. I am assuming you have a PCM which controls a TBI fuel injection system. To set the base timing on these you first have to disconnect the timing connector that goes from the distributor back to the PCM. This is usually a brown wire with a white stipe on it. The connector for it is usually located close to or mounted on the firewall or under the dash on the passenger side. In either case it is normally concealed, but by now someone must have tried to time the truck so it should be hanging close to these areas. Once you have located this connector, run the truck to operating temp. with a timing light connected. Then when the motor is close to operating temp, unplug the one wire connector. The check engine light will come on but don't worry about that. Now aim the timing light directly down behind the water pump and set the base timing. Once happy, turn motor off. Reconnect the wire connector. Start the truck and confirm the check engine light went off, or clear the code by disconnecting the battery. It will clear by itself in time. Good luck.|||10 degrees befor dead top center.|||4 deg btc

What is the gas mileage on a 1970 Chevy Impala?

I'm doing a project in my business class and we have to figure out the cost of a car. I found a really nicely kept 1970 Chevy Impala with a 350 v8 automatic. However, we need to find out the cost of gas per month and to figure out the approximate cost of gas, I need to figure out the gas mileage on the Impala, but I can't find it. Any help?|||I would say around 15 mpg|||These cars when driven normally would achieve about 12 to 14 mpg when new. Are you trying to determine what it costs in 2009 dollars or 1970 dollars? If 1970 these cars ran on leaded regular gas that sold for around 29 to 30 cents per gallon. I believe IRS allowed a mileage credit of 22 cents per mile.

IF this project is in today's dollars then of course the cost is much different.

Car will still get about the same millage if properly tuned. Fuel costs should be about 2.25/gal. IRS today allows 57cents per mile credit.

Fuel tanks on the 1970 Impala were 20 Gals.

20 gals of fuel @14miles per gal=280 Miles per tank of gas times .22 cents per mile operating cost =$61.20 cents operating cost in 1970 dollars

Will a chevy 350ci pass smog in a 1985 toyota pickup in California?

When did chevy trucks switch to fuel injection?

I am looking to buy a chevy truck, I like the late 70' -80's styles, not so much the 90's, but I want fuel injection cause it will save on gas. Thanks for the help!|||they switched to fuel injection in 1987|||Yet again Chevyracer takes it to the hole.

He is correct, and worrying about economy on these trucks is pointless, as carb or EFI they net almost identical.

Weight and aerodynamics are the problem. Stock MPG for the 80's (pre-TBI) trucks are quite close to trucks made today, with similar size engines.

If it really bugs you, buying a 1981-1986 truck and retrofitting the still-plentiful TBI from a 1987+ Chev truck is not that difficult, and likely more easy than trying to find the one-year only standard cab TBI, if thats what you want.

Blazers, Crew Cabs, Cab/chassis, and Suburbans were the same body until 1991, and of course all TBI.|||chevy came out with a tbi or throttle body injection set up in 87 it actually bolted to the manifold much like a carb, and used the same air filter set up as the carb models, at least the v8 models however were not known for much in the way of gas mileage improvements, the Throttle body injection set up was pretty simple by todays standards, It did give great power, was durable and dependable and having had carbs, and tbi injected v8 I like the tbi much better than the early carbs. Later when they went to the vortech motor, the multi port fuel injection was better on fuel economy and power, but it was also much more complicated, therefore more prone to problems, and some years like 98 and 99 were not the best ones. (although anything still running around now is probably fine, as the weak and crappy set ups are long gone. If you are looking for power and fuel mileage, I gotta tell you that toyota 22r or nissan high performance four cylinder was a way better and far more durable than any chevy motor (other than a v8 of course) I had a early 80s nissan king cab pickup with a high performance dual plugs per cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder tied to a 280 z 5 speed transmission that was one little butt kicker of a truck. and it got great fuel mileage. It was dirt cheap, since it had no reverse, and for the couple hundred bucks that was all I had at the time, the greatest deal ever. (you just had to put your foot out the door with your passengers foot helping and push it backwards) but hey, after awhile, I started parking so I did not have to back up at all!!)

Chevy does not have any 4 cylinder motors that can compare to that as far as I know. I have always been a v8 large pickup or van guy anyhow, so fuel mileage was something you don't get much of in a v8.but figure out what you are looking for, by doing what you are doing know, ask questions, research what things you find interesting, If money and fuel mileage are important issues now, then go find a nice nissan king cab pickup with a four banger to save money on fuel, and while saving money for your perfect Chevy pick up, drive something that has a dependable long lasting reputation until you get enough money to set up your chevy pick up the way you want. chevy has the 5.3 v8 now in the new trucks, this is a 327 v8 the 327 has long been my favorite chevy small block for power and torque put one of these in a small early 80s s10 and you will have a perfect little sleeper pickup and the fuel mileage will be good, and have enough power to fry tires, or put on the traction control and launch off the line fast enough to change your heartbeat, best of luck.|||1987 on the chevy/gmc trucks. Throttle body injection (TBI). Its a unit that looks kinda like a carb but the throttle body is only the air intake, in top of the throttle body has 2 fuel injectors mounted

This system really will not be much if any better on fuel mileage than a std. carb. Atleast with a carb, you can pull it apart and change some $6 jets or metering rods and lean it out some to help fuel mileage

EFI systems didnt really improve on the trucks untill the 1996 and newer vortec engines|||87 on full size trucks. The s-10's had tbi v-6 in 86.

What automatic transmission would a 70's Chevy automatic truck have?

I know this is a vague question, but thats all the info I have right now. Its a 70's model Chevy truck automatic with a 350 in it.|||If I had to guess I would say the 350T trans. That's what GM used in most of their V8s during that period.|||350 turbo or 400 turbo there is a tag on it that will tell you|||Most likely a TH350 or possibly a TH400. An easy way to tell a Powerglide, the shift selector will me marked P-R-N-D-L instead of P-R-N-D-2-L, Powerglides are only two speed trannys.

Can you put a chevy tracker engine in a chevy blazer?

the chevy tracker engine is a 2004 and its suzuki motor; and i was wondering if i could take it out and put it in a 95 blazer .. would it need just a few modifications or is it even possible?|||No. As you stated the tracker, along with the engine, is not GM except the Emblem.|||no freaking way|||Why would you even want to take the HP and torque loss? Usualy people want to swap for a BETTER engine. But contrary to what the others are saying. It could be done with some severe and costly fabrication. Wouldn't even be close to worth it though.|||I doubt that engine would adequately power the blazer, you would have difficulty accelerating safely, and likely have worse gas mileage than the original blazer motor. Thats why automakers don't put 4 cylinders in full size trucks, run them at 8000 rpm, and then gear them back down to get torque. Not to mention the prohibitive cost as mentioned to custom manufacture everything.|||I laugh when these geniuses say no way! Yopu can do it, but thew question is ahy woulod you want to. You can actually stuff a 350 chevy in it!

What is the most economical way to upgrade my engine on a 1989 Chevy Caprice Classic?

I have decided to take my 1989 chevy caprice to the max. It currently has a 305 engine with about 95,000 supposedly original miles on it that runs fine but im not really impressed. I want to begin planning on an engine swap but really don't know much about it. Should i try to have it rebuilt into a 350? Is that even possible? Will i have to rebuilt the transmission too? What about suspension? Are there any resources online where i can do comprehensive research? Any comments and suggestions are welcome. How much am i loking at?|||The car is an 89--you can do an entire motor swap to a 350--using a Jasper rebuild--warranted for 50000 miles and 3 years--but you still have a tired trans and probably need a suspension update--these are extremely important if you want to really do an old car over--so figure about 6000 for a motor, trans, suspension, brakes, exhaust and front end parts--get a shop to agree to do it all at once--not one thing at a time. The car will be pretty good to drive and cheaper than a new one. please forget beating the car because it has a bigger motor--the car doesn't need to be raced or abused---it is still an 89 and anything can happen--I have always doubled the life of my Suburbans by doing a motor and trans replacement--the brakes and suspension are top notch---the truck is a 99 but I did do all of this to an 84 and an 89 Suburban. Old vehicles get tired and can still be a good base for a rebuild if taken care of properly and getting all the important stuff done. Shop around and get prices to compare--all shops have varied hourly rates---but the real thing to ask is if they are going to have a warranty for all the work you paid for. I always have the dealer do my work--always easier for them to get parts--my truck was always done in 3 days--everyone of them. Just decide on what you want and then give them the car and forget about it until it is done. Good luck|||Dump the 305 and just build or buy a mild 350 with cam, intake, headers and a good carb---four bolt main block would be preferred but not necessary. Try sites like Jegs.com for hi-po parts and check local parts stores or salvage yards for rebuilt or used motors---with low miles and a good warranty. You'll have to change out the computer for a bigger engine application which will probably be the hardest part of all unless you can eliminate it alltogether. If you have a TH200 trans, best to get rid of that for a TH350 or 700R4....stock should be ok. Suspension mods, look for police package parts at a dealer or aftermarket companes if they're still available. Could run a few thousand if you can do a lot yourself.|||No, you can't bore a 305 to a 350 because you will get into the water jackets(where coolant flows through). If the transmission is still good, it should work fine with a 350 as long as horsepower stays 300 horsepower or less. You can get new springs, shocks, bushings, sway bars, and struts at Summit Racing, Jegs, and some other websites too. A 350 from 87-95(minus LT1, LT4, and LT5) will work with the intake manifold you already have and will bolt up. You might want to get a computer chip, injectors, and knock sensor for a 350. You could always get a small supercharger that will help the performance. If you did the work(meaning no labor cost) these stuff yourself, it would cost around $1500 to $3000 (minus the supercharger) and depending on what kinds of deals you find on parts.|||You can only bore a 305 .030 maximum safely. If you google the 305 it is possible to upgrade it with an expensive cylinder head, intake manifold, Holley vacuum secondary 650, and a very mild camshaft change. I read an article on the computer yesterday about a test at Shaver racing engines with the above changes.

There is a 'leak kit' that includes several little gaskets and o rings. Hoses were separate if needed. They are also made by an aftermarket company called Dorman so it may be worth asking your shop if they are using GM or the Dorman parts and if there is a price or quality difference. How do you remove transmission from 1993 Chevy Lumina?

I have a 1993 Chevy Lumina Euro and am having transmission problems. The car was driving perfectly fine ( i had only had it a month, I bought it from an individual) and then one day I stopped at a red light, and when I went to go, it wouldn't move. Not forward or reverse. As I said, there was no slippage or anything. Any ideas? If not, can you tell me how I would go about removing the tranny in order to replace it? Thanks for all your help.|||better to get in with hoist engine craddle has to come out with motor and tranny

What is the difference in a 1957 Chevy Belair Hardtop vs 210 Hardtop?

I am trying to buy a 1957 Chevy Belair, but for the money I want to make sure it isn't a 2 door sedan or a 210 Hardtop. What are the differences please?|||Belair has all the chrome. 210 is a plain car. Hard top means no post between drivers side window and back side window. sedan is like a station wagon.|||Trim differences, generally; you could order any powertrain combo on Bel Air, Two-Ten, or even One-Fifty, the base car. You should be able to distinguish between a sedan and a hardtop on sight. (I don't think they made a One-Fifty hardtop.)|||you should check out the new Old Cars weekly site that provides detailed reports on American Classics. I used it to get a detailed pricing report on a '57 Corvette. I almost over paid for it. Save yourself some cash and get the pricing trend report. I think it's only $5.

www.oldcarsweekly.com/report|||the answer you have is correct, but if you really want to make sure it isnt a two door sedan, made up to be a belair, then just cross reference the VIN number, that will tell you just exactly what you want to know|||it is kind of confusing but we have a couple 57 chevies one is a 4 door 210 but has the rear quarter trim like our 2 door HT bel air has in which was converted to a gasser racer long ago

What is the easiest way to line up a door on a 1987 chevy pickup?

This is a foreign made replacement door for a 1987 chevy pickup.|||If the door fits in the hole properly its just a matter of shimming the hinges.

If the door sticks out at the top (or bottom) and fits on the other end, it can be physically bent or twisted to fit.|||spray a lot of oil where you attach the door so when you go to adjust it after its easy to slide and wiggle around to where you want it.

you need to just eyeball it and tighten it enough it doesn't move and then see how well the door closes. then go and adjust it. that's why it helps to spray some oil in there so you can wiggle it around in there.

it's still a pain in the *** to do though. good luck chevys suck

What could I do to my 1998 Chevy Malibu to make it more than the average sedan?

It's my first car, a 1998 Chevy Malibu (blue). I was hoping to make some changes to it that would make it drive/look like more than your typical every day 4 door sedan. I'm a 16 year old kid with a low end job, so the price range needs to be according. Any suggestions would be great.|||New rims make a world of differnece as long as they are not too crazy lookin. Check out some American Racing Rims. They are pretty nice. Whatever your tire size, I'm guessing a 15 or 16 go one size bigger. When you start reaching 20s on a sedan it looks wierd. Once I did see a 97 lumina with the hog nose air intake on it. Of course it did nothin it was just for looks, but it was kinda neat. The guy even put a glass pack on it and some loud pipes.|||I would tint the windows, provided that it's legal to do where you live. Then, get some aftermarket rims. Just, please don't put some ridiculously huge rims on. Try to keep the overall profile of the tire/rim combo close to stock as possible, so your speedometer will remain calibrated.|||Yeah, right!!|||I remember when i was 16 and had to have a tricked out car. wash it/wax it and put some wheels on it

What do you call the chrome piece on the side of a 1958 chevy brookwood?

I'm looking for the chrome parts that go on the side of a 1958 chevy brookwood, but I can't think of what they are called. All of the 1958 wagon models have this piece as well. Any help?|||Generically, it's side trim or side chrome. Specifically, there is trim/chrome for the fender, door, quarter panel, rocker, and a small piece between the doors. Yeoman, Brookwood, and Nomad didn't all have the same amount of trim on the side, so I think you are talking about the rocker panel since you say they all have it.

How do I find out about the warranty I have on my 04 Chevy Tahoe?

My husband and I purchased and 04 Chevy Tahoe back in October of 2006. We aslo purchased an extended warranty with it to cover anything that breaks. Well we are looking to trade it in for a different vehicle and I was thinking about canceling the warranty on the SUV before we trade it in so we can get that money back, we financed it through Americredit (don't ask me why b/c my husband has excellent credit and Americredit is a secondary lender, but anyways...) How do I go about cancelling the extended warranty? Approximatly how long does it take to recieve the check in the mail?|||You can get a refund on most warranties, however it will be pro-rated and won't be much. If you got the warranty at the dealership, go and see the Finance Manager and tell him you want to cancel your warranty. It will take a few weeks to receive the funds, so you'll have to be patient. I hope this helps and you can email if you have questions.|||Ive never heard of anyone being able to cancel the warrenty on their vehicle before but i guess that would be up to the dealership. If it still has a decent warrenty on it, maybe the dealership you are trading it in at will give you more for it. A vehicle is worth more when its protected by warrenties. You should have recieved something in the mail concerning your warrenty as well. It took a few months to get my information. I would check with the dealership you are thinking of buying from first and see what they will do for you, and if they dont offer you more for your tahoe then go back to the original dealership you bought it from and ask them for the information.|||I don't think you can cancel almost 2 years into a contract! Even if you could, the refund would go to the lender, not you.|||You'll only get guesses here. Call the company that sold you the extended warranty and they should be able to tell you their cancellation/refund process.

And I want the lights brighter light blue lights or even whiter lights will work

but what kind could i buy that will fit and where at?|||your chevy caprice came equipped with 4 sealed beam headlights. for better lighting suggest that you replace them with 165mm euroheadlights with halogen bulbs. the low beams take h4 bulbs and the high beams take h1 bulbs. the top replacement lights are made by cibie and hella. the cibie's are around 75.00 each but here is a web site with great prices on hella's.

How to identify a Chevy muscle car?

My Ford and Chrysler friends all seem to be able to identify every Chevy muscle car just by looking at the tail lights. They even know the year, make and model of these Chevy's just by the tail lights. How can this be?|||year,make,%26amp; model is easy because they were all different. back in the day not every car looked the same...not even a little [ except for the 63/64 impala %26amp; a few other year combination,s...the tail lamp,s were very similar but the body style was slightly different]...but you could not tell if it was a muscle car by that...a 65 %26amp;66 body style were very similar [ impala/caprice] but the tail lamp,s were different...to know if it was a muscle car could only be determined [ from a distance] if it had the SS emblem...%26amp; even that did not assure that a simple belair didn't have a big block,4 speed ,posi rear end, dual exhaust, etc. no...you could tell the year , make %26amp; model...but not if it was muscle car unless you got up close %26amp; personal....even now you can take an old chevelle %26amp; put the right trim, emblem,s %26amp; power train to come up with a SS clone...but the V.I.N. number will allway,s tell the truth....that said...it was easy to tell the year,make,%26amp; model because they changed the style,s every year...at least until the 70,s when not a whole lot changed ...like the montecarlo from 70 to 72..little thing,s like the front grill or front signal lamp,s changed...but hard to tell from the side or rear.|||the design..i can identify evey chevy from 55 to 70 full size...chevele from 64 to 70..they changed every yr and each looks differnt..|||The year is molded into the lens in small raised letters.|||my brother is the same way (and he doesn't even have to be close to the car) ...

practice, I guess.|||Back in the 60s and 70s, automakers had the mindset that if someone wanted to buy a car with specific features, they would have bought it that year. So they changed things every year, so that no two years were identical. Myself, I can't identify a lot of them, but a few I can, like 1968-1970 chargers. For example, 68 charger had dual round taillights on each side, while 69 and 70 had panel taillights that covered the entire rear. The 68 had round side marker lights, 69 and 70 were rectangle. As for grilles, the 68 was an open grille, 69 had the classic split grille, and 70 went back to the open full width grille like the 68, but had a chrome strip through the center of it running side to side. I know Chevelles had the same deal going on.|||Yeah, you could identify all the big 3's musclecars by just spotting them from the sixties through the late seventies.|||In the 60's and 70's there were Malibus and Novas with a big block motor, and some with an in line 6 cyl, so not every car of the same year is a "muscle car"

Muscle cars typically ran a big engine, and you can't tell what engine it has by the tail lights.|||friends are putting you on/some vettes are too close to call/also early chevelles/and camaros/they are reading the dates on the lense|||It comes with being around cars alot, working with them, going to car shows, etc.

Its not JUST the tail lights. Its the basic shape of car plus things likethe tail lights, or head lights.

Like 60's and early 70's covettes and camaros had tail lights that was round and look pretty close, but we all can tell the diff in the shape of the rear of a camaro and vette.

X year had single head light per side where the next year had 2 per side, or X year had tail fins,

Its all the little details that goes with the car and alot of those details changed each year

How to fix the backseat of a Chevy Gladiator?

We own a 1995-99 (forgot which year) chevy gladiator van. I want to know how to lower the back seat. When we first got it, it was lowered by a switch which has been broken for about seven years. We haven't lowered the seat since then.I don't care about fixing it by power. I would like to know how to lower the seat manually. Please explain to me step by step how to fix it please.

Thanks!|||Swap the switch with a known good one, lower it, and return the switch.

What is the difference between a Volvo Penta v8 aq231a engine and a Chevy 305 small block?

I need to know the exact difference between the vp v8 and the chevy small block and if possible the reason.|||What you have is a marinized GM V8.

When they build them for the marine application they install brass freeze plugs instaed of steel which will rust out with time. The camshaft is marine because it runs in a differant RPM range than automotive and the valve springs are heavier.

The starter and alternator have a spark shield in them to prevent any explosion or fire with a spark created in the bilge area . The fuel pump is also differant in that it has a fitting for a tygon hose which runs up to the carb so if the daiphragm in the pump breaks the fuel is passed to the carb to be used. In a automotive pump there is a weep hole which would leak gas into the bilge. Basically thats it|||The chev small block 305 5 litre has a hp range of about 135 hp to about 250 hp. all depends on how it is configured.

The volvo AQ231A uses the same 305 5 litre motor and is configured to produce231 hp , hence AQ231 , plus the AQ motor is marinized to cope with salt water cooling.|||Just the make of the motor. I know the volvo uses an actual radiator, like a car. I assume you are talking about a bayliner, I have one myself and I love it.

What is the easiest way to replace a water pump in a 01 chevy cavalier?

I have 100,008 miles on this car and just then water dumped out of my chevy like it was a flood! It slow leaks water when it's off and pours like the nile when it's idling.

I am looking to know that the water pump is the right diagnosis, what tools are required to, and how to replace this part myself. Reason: Cause I'm trying to save on about $450.00 of labor. The part is only $23.00. :P

Any helpful answer is appreciated, thanks.|||depends on the engine size.the small one takes a few hours and z engine takes almost 7 hours to do.|||Actually, I'd like to add that it is not the Z and is a 2.2L sohc. The hoses all are fine and "non squishy", and the water pump assembly to its 'bracket'[?] is perfectly viewable. I've already been quoted as the cheapest at $260.

|||There is no easy way to repace anything in a car today. Just look under the hood and see how cramp everything is . A lot of disassembly is in order to put in the new water pump.|||If you had a ramp to drive it up on, it would help other than that.. a garage|||If you got 100,000 mi. out of a cavalier, count yourself VERY lucky and then burn it!|||It should not cost 450 to replace a water pump - maybe about 250 maximum.

However, if you know nothing about cars, either make the choice to take it to a mechanic (towed) or dump it.

BTW, it may not be a water pump, but a hose.

What starter do i need for a chevy 350 small block?

I have an '84 Camaro and i just recently put a Chevy 350 small block in it. I also had a new starter put into it, and it grinds when i try and start it. Anyone know how to fix this? Do i need a new starter? What kind of starter?|||The Chevy starters need to be shimmed. There should have been some metallic shims that came with your new starter. If not you can ask the parts house for some. Start off with two shims sandwiched in between your starter and the block, you will see the bolt holes in the shims.|||they are all right about the shims, when you buy a starter it usually has the shims and a little rod tool that you use to measure the distance between the starter shaft and flywheel. do something about it soon or you will damage the starter and flywheel. it's easy to replace the starter, but a whole lot harder to replace the flywheel. good luck|||You might need shims to move the starter out from the bolts and closer to the flywheel gears.

You say you "had" a new starter put in. Doesn't the person who put the new starter in know what he did and didn't do, and is his work guaranteed?|||your grinding isnt a starter issue, its a shim issue, go to autozone and get some starter shims. that will solve your issues. put the thinnest shim in and thicker as needed. it comes in a kit.|||Chevrolet starters need shims between the starter and block or bell housing. anyone that works on Chevy's will have shims and they will probably give them to you.

How much should I offer for a Chevy Tranny?

I am looking at a used Chevy "TH700R4" transmission in the local paper. She says its rebuilt and just sitting in her basement after her husband left her. She is asking $500 and the pictures look fairly decent but nobody ever pays the price the seller asks for so how much should I offer her?|||you don't know about the rebuild and tell her so. Offer her 250 and go no higher than 350.Take it to a transmission shop before having it installed and get them to check it out|||if it's actually been rebuilt it's probably worth $4-500. If she can't show you the proof then to me its a crap shoot and you may be buying a core transmission so $250 at most

Where can I buy a engine rebuild kit for 1978 Chevy Corvette with a 327?

My father and I are in the process of taking apart and rebuilding my mothers 1978 vette. It has a 327 in it and I am having a hard time finding a rebuild kit for a chevy 327 in that year. Most of the sites I go to show the chevy 327 only in older vehicles, like prior to 1970. Any ideas?|||Well was the 327 swapped into the car?

The last 327 was made in 1969. Nothing after '69 came stock with a 327.

The 78 vette stock had a 350 in it.

The 327 was made from 1962-69.. The 62-67 was small journal engines (2.30" mains and 2.0" rod journals)

The 68-69 327 was med. journal (some call it large journal) Had 3.45" mains and 2.10" rod journals.

Check your engine suffix code (front, pass side of engine) on machined pad in front of head.

And the casting # on rear drivers side of block on flange where trans bolts too

How much will it cost to fix a broken axle on a 1987 chevy celebrity?

I have a 1987 Chevy Celebrity Station Wagon and I think the axle is broken, but I cannot really tell. I just need to know how much that is going to cost, and how i can tell the difference between a broken axle and a broken ti-rod.|||CV Axle is about $60, installation should take less than two hours. So I would guesstimate depending on your local shop rates about $150-$200.

Tie rod you would lose steering ablity, the CV joint you would lose power.

Another way to know.. If its a grinding noise and a jumping wheel its a CV Joint in the axle bad, if your car accellerates fine but pulls funny or drifts bad then its in the steering.|||Describe the symptoms you are experiencing, or the noise it makes. Without this information it is not possible to diagnose the problem. Does it make noise when you turn the car, or when it goes over a bump, and what noise.

To figure out the cost of the repair, call any auto parts store and ask how much the part is that you need. It may be a ball joint, constant velocity joint, or suspension part. When you know what part ask and they will tell you. Then call three places, independent service place and a dealer for your make, they will tell you the amount of labor to change the part, and their labour rate. Now you will know how much for the repair. To have your car checked out by a garage would take no longer than 15 minutes to find the problem, but they will want to charge you a half hour. So get the inspection and change the right part. Call around different garages for the best price in inspection and changing the part.

How much would a 1985 K5 Chevy silverado blazer cost me?

The 1985 K5 Chevy silverado blazer has new paint and no rust. The original miles are 108,000. The engine is a 305. So what is the highest someone can charge for it?|||They can charge whatever they want. How much will you pay? That depends on how much you want a K-5. (as well as how much others do) K-5s are pretty sought after in good shape, so they are quite a bit more expensive than a similar year Ford Bronco. If it is good paint, the running gear is in good shape, and the motor runs well I could see it going for as much as 4-5000. The typical model with a stock paint and even a bit of age damage, 15-2500.|||my 1984 with the 305 swapped out for a 350 cost $4,000 but it could cost less, mine was just in perfect condition with new paint|||Depends on the overall appearance and how bad someone wants it. Does anyone know how to repair this?|||If the fuel pump is making strange noises when the ignition switch goes to " on ", I would suspect it as faulty. Is one of the mounting brackets broken? All rig-able. If it's leaking bad and you have no power steering fluid and you can't fix it, try putting ATF in if you have it laying around. Or see a doctor.|||check the reservoir to see if the level is right c- for cold, h-hot(the engine), then look at the bottom of the pump to see if you bend a line.

How do you tune a 2001 chevy impala by yourself?

I want to learn to do a major tune up to my 2001 Chevy Impala. Anyone know a site where I could go to?|||There are three things you can do:

1) Change spark plugs

2) Change spark plug wires

3) Change O2 sensors

This is a major tune up on an '01 Impy. If you want to go a little further, you can do a SeaFoam or BG44K treatment through the gas tank (which will clean the fuel injectors) and use some electronics cleaner to clean the MAF. Beyond that, there isn't much more you can do.|||You don't "need a site" you need to have tools to remove the spark plugs and wires. You might also check the coil terminals, they get rusty and need cleaning. The best way to learn is hire a mechanic that does side jobs and watch when he does the job. If he knows what he's doing he won't mind you watching.|||i don't think you would need a site all you have to do is change the plug wires and change the spark plug wires and maybe change the O2 sensor and then run a bottle of fuel system cleaner through the tank if you want to you could drop the tank and change the fuel filter.|||check your local college for an evening auto shop class

What (if any) is the difference between a 79 Chevy front drive shaft vs. an 81 front drive shaft?

I managed to do some damage to my front drive shaft in a 79 Chevy K5 4x4 Blazer. I found a drive shaft for an 81 Chevy for a reasonable price. I was wondering if anyone knows if they are compatible or not.|||Very possibly. Measure yours in length and width of the joint and compare.

Does anyione know how much the Chevy Traverse will start at?

What the chevy traverse starting price will be? Please let me know i am really looking forward to buying it it's a beautiful car.|||As of now Chevy has not released a official price for the different models that will be available. The new 2009 Traverse will be a step above all the SUV,s on the road.Best of luck.|||The word on the street is between $24,995 and $26,995. It is supposed to be the most affordable lambda crossover GM will have.

How to make a stock 1992 Chevy silverado 1500 faster?

Got a stock 92 chevy silverado 1500 for graduation. 5.7L V8, gas, automatic transmission, new engine, new radiator... What all can I do to make this truck faster/ more ballsy. It has a modified exhaust, but pipes are startin to rust so I think i should replace it. Any tips or good products to purchase?|||1st off people... It's a 1992 truck.. It don't have a carb. It will be throttle body fuel injected if still stock.

Headers, dual exhaust, good flowing mufflers, high flow cats,

Performance chip for the ECU

K%26amp;N cold air system with k%26amp;N air filter

Throttle body spacer

Aftermarket TBI intake

Aftermarket lager (600-670 cfm) throttle body

Full tune up, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc

3.42, 3.73, or 4.10 rear gear ratio

2200-2600 rpm stall torque converter

Trans GO reprogramming kit for transmission

After that, all thats left is going inside engine.

Better flowing heads, bigger cam, more compression, etc etc|||Your best bet is to leave it stock or you're looking for problems.

The 350 should be fast enough, if it feels like it really isn't then there is a problem, however, you should first make sure that your filters are fresh, the most obvious is the air filter, but alot of people overlook the fuel filter, definitely change that.

If your state doesn't do emission testing (Florida, and probably a few others), replace your catylitic converter with a straight pipe. I recently did that on my 81 Oldsmobile (my state doesn't emmission test any car over 25 years old), and there was a nice improvement to engine power.|||Money! Money makes it faster, what's your budget? The more you can spend on performance parts the faster it will go. But trust me the more power you make the more you will break.

Your stock truck should be able to achieve any legal speed limit in the USA. If you want to pull stuff you can increase HP and torque by making changes to the intake system, cylinder heads, valves, camshaft and lifters. GM makes a high torque stroker small block that is 383 CID developing enough ponies and torque to twist the axles off. It runs about 6000 and is complete except for the induction system. Then a good 4L80E or a built 4L60E trans should handle street use.|||definatly a true dual exhaust system meaning there are two separate exhausts with own cat and muffler opposed to one pipe into two set up. cherry bomb is a nice exhaust. an intake k%26amp;n makes a great one. if its computer controlled a superchips which can add 100 hp. supercharger will make it fly but those are like 4 grand for a decent one. ram air hood looks cool and adds power. also some good spark plugs will add some horsepower denso irridiums are the best|||clean to show room new and lube everything that moves, anything and everything that makes it move should be shiny bright to new in condition, including the tires balanced and inflated to the proper pressure, you want the least rolling resistance as possible, nothing causing friction in the air and causing it to slow down|||liam is right about the carb but is wrong about the bore. dont get it bored unless you are losing compression (look up compression test on google). boreing only gives you like 3 more ci. your best bet is a new camshaft, carb, intake manifold and headers if you wanna start bumping it up.|||try a air injector, computer programmer, or even a better set of wires and plugs.|||Get it bored out and/ or add bigger carbs. Lighten where poss and take the handbrake off.

How much horsepower can a 355 chevy engine crankout?

I you were to put everything availible to the open market and still have it be street legal, how much horseepower could a chevy 355 have?|||If you're saying "everything available", no budget, you can likely put easily over 1000 hp out of the 355.

You would need to bulletproof the bottom end, with aftermarket caps and the works, and run studs for the heads, with o-ringed gaskets. Pure ragged edge heads and a beastly cam. No standard fuel - set it up to run on E85, and a lot of focus on a powerful ignition system. On top of that, lots of boost - twin turbos matched to the hp curve, looking to make those numbers around 6000-6500 rpm.

A naturally aspirated 355 is easily capable of over 1hp without much on it in the way of mods. Nobody here thinks you couldn't double down under an ungodly amount of boost?

One man's "sick and unmanageable" is another man's "street legal". I know of a guy who runs a fairly radical minitubbed Nova with a Lenco on the street - his car is registered and legal to drive. Not that any normal driver would consider it remotely accommodating - he does.|||I build 1,000+ HP Naturally Aspirated 350's regularly. I also build them at that HP level and well above that with forced induction which will lend you the power at a more realistic RPM. However, there is just as much involved in making something at that output level live and stay together as there is in effectively "moving" that much worth of air through it to make that kind of power. In Naturally Aspirated form, it's NOT going to even remotely come close to that power level with a conventional cylinder head on it, and 14:1 + Compression, to start with.

While you can certainly accomplish it with money, other than the sake of the conversation or argument, it's insanely unrealistic.

For the money, a Big Block Chevy is the cheapest cost per HP in the engine business. And the most reliable, too.|||Grab a magazine like "HOT ROD" and you'll see lots of examples.

I've never built one up, but I've seen them dyno engines they have built. 700 HP, street legal is doable.

Most folks are able to get 400-450 BHP out of a 355. BUT.... if you have all the money in the world...

I heard someone was going to do a 900 HP small block. Dont' know if they were increasing the cubes using a small block or keeping it at 355 though.

If you put nitrous on a turbocharged 355 that's been bored and stroked to 400, you can get a ton of power. There are lots of weekend drag racers who do this stuff all day long.

I think if you're keeping the cubes at 355, don't care about making the engine last, use a blower and nitrous, you can get 600-800hp.

There is a rule of thumb. Getting 1 hp per cubic inch is pretty standard these days, even without a blower or nitrous. So 355 is almost a sure thing if you know what you're doing.

Another theory... Getting 100 HP per liter (355 cu in = about 5.8 L) is also not uncommon. That said, because a smaller engine is easier to spin faster, and since HP = (RPM * Torque)/5252, increasing RPM without doing anything else raises horsepower, so it's not uncommon to see a smaller displacement engine, like Honda's 2.0 L 4 cyl in the S2000 making more than 100 HP per Liter (naturally aspirated). The 2.0 L in the Honda S2000 makes 240 HP or 120 HP per L.

So in theory, you should be able to do the same with the 5.8L chevy - so, 5.8 multiplied by 1.2 is 6.96 - so I still say 700HP is possible and there are lots of cars in hot rod magazines to prove it.

I can't find any examples in my 2 minutes searching Google, but... I bet someone has used a turbo, super charger and or nitrous and I'm sure, someone has built a 900 HP maybe even 1000 HP street legal 355.

And they spent a FORTUNE to do it ; )

Most folks seem to be able to get 350hp to 450HP though.

Here's a 378 getting close to 700 HP

Good luck.|||over 1000 hp it might be street legal annd that is a street legal crap is a myth but at 1000hp it wouldnt be a car you would want to drive around on the street because all the power would be made at 5000 rpm and above so if you say didnt rev it past 4000 rpm a chevette could out run you|||A reasonable engine could produce 420hp naturally aspirated, 700+ turbocharged.|||550 horse power for the carbon fibre super car chevelet|||Your question has no backbone to it. Sounds like something a teenager would ask.

Be real and get real answers. Give more detail.

What does street legal mean? Street legal has alot of meanings based on the state you live in, the car engine is in, etc.

Have to have emission test on newers cars in most states so putting it in a 1986 monte carlo in CA. you might be able to get 400 HP and be street legal.

Put it in a non emissions tested car and your only limit is fuel

With no budget limit. I could do a 355 with 15* heads, twin turbos, water injection, nitrous cooled intercooler and get you about 1600 HP out of it

It will be street legal in non emissions car but would need 110 octane or better race fuel to run, and it would take a very skilled driver to drive it, couldnt drive it if there was any dampness to the roads at all, etc etc.. Oh and it would get about 3 to 4 miles per the gal of fuel

If you want more real world answers then with a fuel limit of 93 octane pump fuel, you can get around 800 HP out of a 355 with forced induction

Around 550 or so max N/A

My 355 is right at 600 HP N/A at the crank but to most folks its not streetable. Its street legal and my daily driver but as I said to most its looked at as a race engine/race car

idles at 1000-1100 rpm, wont run on less than 93 octane, needs a 3500 stall converter at min, makes its power between 3000-7500 rpm, not enough vac to run/work power brakes so have to run man. brakes
