I am looking at a used Chevy "TH700R4" transmission in the local paper. She says its rebuilt and just sitting in her basement after her husband left her. She is asking $500 and the pictures look fairly decent but nobody ever pays the price the seller asks for so how much should I offer her?|||you don't know about the rebuild and tell her so. Offer her 250 and go no higher than 350.Take it to a transmission shop before having it installed and get them to check it out|||if it's actually been rebuilt it's probably worth $4-500. Typical rebuild usually runs $1200+|||just rebuilt? $350-$450|||If she can show you an inoice or sales slip showing its been rebuilt then its worth the asking price..
If she can't show you the proof then to me its a crap shoot and you may be buying a core transmission so $250 at most
A rebuild on a 700R4 will norm. run $650-1000 depending on what shop, good parts or just cheap stuff used in built, etc
