Can you put a chevy tracker engine in a chevy blazer?

the chevy tracker engine is a 2004 and its suzuki motor; and i was wondering if i could take it out and put it in a 95 blazer .. would it need just a few modifications or is it even possible?|||No. As you stated the tracker, along with the engine, is not GM except the Emblem.|||no freaking way|||Why would you even want to take the HP and torque loss? Usualy people want to swap for a BETTER engine. But contrary to what the others are saying. It could be done with some severe and costly fabrication. Wouldn't even be close to worth it though.|||I doubt that engine would adequately power the blazer, you would have difficulty accelerating safely, and likely have worse gas mileage than the original blazer motor. Thats why automakers don't put 4 cylinders in full size trucks, run them at 8000 rpm, and then gear them back down to get torque. Not to mention the prohibitive cost as mentioned to custom manufacture everything.|||I laugh when these geniuses say no way! Yopu can do it, but thew question is ahy woulod you want to. You can actually stuff a 350 chevy in it!

What is the most economical way to upgrade my engine on a 1989 Chevy Caprice Classic?

I have decided to take my 1989 chevy caprice to the max. It currently has a 305 engine with about 95,000 supposedly original miles on it that runs fine but im not really impressed. I want to begin planning on an engine swap but really don't know much about it. Should i try to have it rebuilt into a 350? Is that even possible? Will i have to rebuilt the transmission too? What about suspension? Are there any resources online where i can do comprehensive research? Any comments and suggestions are welcome. How much am i loking at?|||The car is an 89--you can do an entire motor swap to a 350--using a Jasper rebuild--warranted for 50000 miles and 3 years--but you still have a tired trans and probably need a suspension update--these are extremely important if you want to really do an old car over--so figure about 6000 for a motor, trans, suspension, brakes, exhaust and front end parts--get a shop to agree to do it all at once--not one thing at a time. The car will be pretty good to drive and cheaper than a new one. please forget beating the car because it has a bigger motor--the car doesn't need to be raced or abused---it is still an 89 and anything can happen--I have always doubled the life of my Suburbans by doing a motor and trans replacement--the brakes and suspension are top notch---the truck is a 99 but I did do all of this to an 84 and an 89 Suburban. Old vehicles get tired and can still be a good base for a rebuild if taken care of properly and getting all the important stuff done. Shop around and get prices to compare--all shops have varied hourly rates---but the real thing to ask is if they are going to have a warranty for all the work you paid for. I always have the dealer do my work--always easier for them to get parts--my truck was always done in 3 days--everyone of them. Just decide on what you want and then give them the car and forget about it until it is done. Good luck|||Dump the 305 and just build or buy a mild 350 with cam, intake, headers and a good carb---four bolt main block would be preferred but not necessary. Try sites like Jegs.com for hi-po parts and check local parts stores or salvage yards for rebuilt or used motors---with low miles and a good warranty. You'll have to change out the computer for a bigger engine application which will probably be the hardest part of all unless you can eliminate it alltogether. If you have a TH200 trans, best to get rid of that for a TH350 or 700R4....stock should be ok. Suspension mods, look for police package parts at a dealer or aftermarket companes if they're still available. Could run a few thousand if you can do a lot yourself.|||No, you can't bore a 305 to a 350 because you will get into the water jackets(where coolant flows through). If the transmission is still good, it should work fine with a 350 as long as horsepower stays 300 horsepower or less. You can get new springs, shocks, bushings, sway bars, and struts at Summit Racing, Jegs, and some other websites too. A 350 from 87-95(minus LT1, LT4, and LT5) will work with the intake manifold you already have and will bolt up. You might want to get a computer chip, injectors, and knock sensor for a 350. You could always get a small supercharger that will help the performance. If you did the work(meaning no labor cost) these stuff yourself, it would cost around $1500 to $3000 (minus the supercharger) and depending on what kinds of deals you find on parts.|||You can only bore a 305 .030 maximum safely. If you google the 305 it is possible to upgrade it with an expensive cylinder head, intake manifold, Holley vacuum secondary 650, and a very mild camshaft change. I read an article on the computer yesterday about a test at Shaver racing engines with the above changes.

What is the cost to repair the oil cooling hoses on a 2000 Chevy Blazer?

Our Chevy Blazer has had a small oil leak forever. We were told today that it is a standard problem for that car and can be resolved by replacing two hoses. Has anyone heard of this?|||Yes. Very common and not too expensive. Those hoses are around $45.00 for both. That is here in Arkansas.|||http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f107/repair-your-leaking-oil-cooler-lines-343472/

|||Yep very common problem. On earlier motors it was also common to leak by the oil filter where the lines came off, not sure if they got around that with the newer design that yours should be. There is a 'leak kit' that includes several little gaskets and o rings. Hoses were separate if needed. They are also made by an aftermarket company called Dorman so it may be worth asking your shop if they are using GM or the Dorman parts and if there is a price or quality difference. I have used both over the years and it all depends on the mark ups of the places you are getting the parts as far as which is cheaper.|||Try to find http://auto4u.info

How to fix hard shifting on 03 Chevy Cavalier between gears on 4 speed automatic transmission?

I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier that shifts hard between gears. It has an electronically controlled 4 speed automatic transmission. What do I need to do to get it shifting smoothly like it was new? It usually shifts hard between 1-2 2-3 and slower speeds, but the car will "jump" if you punch the gas at any time. Do I just need to have the automatic transmission fluid changed or do I need to take it to a transmission place to have it adjusted?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!|||how many miles? check your fluid level and if its fine, try changing the transmission filter

What is the difference between a 1953 chevy and GMC pickup truck?

My grandpa bought a 1953 Chevy Pickup in need of repairs and he was wondering if it would be possible for him to use parts off of a '53 GMC Pickup on the truck.|||Almost no difference between a Chevrolet and a GMC truck in these years. Mostly the badging and trim. Most parts will interchange.

What is the mechanics flat rate to change out a transmission in a Chevy pickup?

We have a 1999 Chevy 3/4 ton silverado with a 5 speed transmission.

Trying to figure out what the hours are in the flat rate book to change this out.|||some say 6 hours flat, but ive seen a few of the old manuals say 6-8 hours and the shop charges for 7 hours at whatever their rate is.|||One of the worst car issues I just went through was when my transmission blew. I know my way around a car somewhat, but not so much when it comes to transmissions. I did some shopping around, but eventually settled on Grand Rapids Transmission (www.grandrapidstransmission.com). I was more comfortable giving my business to a place that specializes in transmission repairs and rebuilds. Besides, their free diagnostic service didn鈥檛 hurt anything either. It was much more painless than I expected to. They offered towing to and from the shop, and their rates were very good too.|||most charge about 50 bucks an hour and it gives 6 hours on changing that one out,but in a good shop it can be done in less time but most shops will charge at least 250-350 to swap it out,you cant hardly get one done for less,if its 4 wheel drive add another 125 to that price, good luck.|||haha probably not cheap|||2 or 4 wheel drive?

How can I see if a recall on other year Chevy S10's should be applied to my truck?

I have had several things happen to my truck 1998 that have been covered by it seems like every year except 1998 or to other makes or models from 1998. Most recently my wipers have stopped working from time to time and I discovered a recall for the exact problem for 1996 Chevy S10's. I read somewhere that I needed to look more widely at recalls to see if it applied to all chevy trucks or whatnot. I can't seem to find this. Any ideas?|||i had a 98 and it did the same thing. i took it to the dealer and they told me the recall did not apply to the 98s. I found that the wiper control module under the hood is what goes bad. You can pick it up at an indepent parts place for a whole lot cheaper than the dealer will sell it for.|||Here are 2 places to check:

How do you remove transmission from 1993 Chevy Lumina?

I have a 1993 Chevy Lumina Euro and am having transmission problems. The car was driving perfectly fine ( i had only had it a month, I bought it from an individual) and then one day I stopped at a red light, and when I went to go, it wouldn't move. Not forward or reverse. As I said, there was no slippage or anything. Any ideas? If not, can you tell me how I would go about removing the tranny in order to replace it? What is the difference in a 1957 Chevy Belair Hardtop vs 210 Hardtop?

I am trying to buy a 1957 Chevy Belair, but for the money I want to make sure it isn't a 2 door sedan or a 210 Hardtop. What are the differences please?|||Belair has all the chrome. 210 is a plain car. Hard top means no post between drivers side window and back side window. sedan is like a station wagon.|||Trim differences, generally; you could order any powertrain combo on Bel Air, Two-Ten, or even One-Fifty, the base car. You should be able to distinguish between a sedan and a hardtop on sight. (I don't think they made a One-Fifty hardtop.)|||you should check out the new Old Cars weekly site that provides detailed reports on American Classics. I used it to get a detailed pricing report on a '57 Corvette. I almost over paid for it. Save yourself some cash and get the pricing trend report. I think it's only $5.

www.oldcarsweekly.com/report|||the answer you have is correct, but if you really want to make sure it isnt a two door sedan, made up to be a belair, then just cross reference the VIN number, that will tell you just exactly what you want to know|||it is kind of confusing but we have a couple 57 chevies one is a 4 door 210 but has the rear quarter trim like our 2 door HT bel air has in which was converted to a gasser racer long ago

What is the easiest way to line up a door on a 1987 chevy pickup?

This is a foreign made replacement door for a 1987 chevy pickup.|||If the door fits in the hole properly its just a matter of shimming the hinges.

If the door sticks out at the top (or bottom) and fits on the other end, it can be physically bent or twisted to fit.|||spray a lot of oil where you attach the door so when you go to adjust it after its easy to slide and wiggle around to where you want it.

you need to just eyeball it and tighten it enough it doesn't move and then see how well the door closes. then go and adjust it. that's why it helps to spray some oil in there so you can wiggle it around in there.

it's still a pain in the *** to do though. good luck chevys suck

What could I do to my 1998 Chevy Malibu to make it more than the average sedan?

It's my first car, a 1998 Chevy Malibu (blue). I was hoping to make some changes to it that would make it drive/look like more than your typical every day 4 door sedan. I'm a 16 year old kid with a low end job, so the price range needs to be according. Any suggestions would be great.|||New rims make a world of differnece as long as they are not too crazy lookin. Check out some American Racing Rims. They are pretty nice. Whatever your tire size, I'm guessing a 15 or 16 go one size bigger. When you start reaching 20s on a sedan it looks wierd. Once I did see a 97 lumina with the hog nose air intake on it. Of course it did nothin it was just for looks, but it was kinda neat. The guy even put a glass pack on it and some loud pipes.|||I would tint the windows, provided that it's legal to do where you live. Then, get some aftermarket rims. Just, please don't put some ridiculously huge rims on. Try to keep the overall profile of the tire/rim combo close to stock as possible, so your speedometer will remain calibrated.|||Yeah, right!!|||I remember when i was 16 and had to have a tricked out car. wash it/wax it and put some wheels on it

What do you call the chrome piece on the side of a 1958 chevy brookwood?

I'm looking for the chrome parts that go on the side of a 1958 chevy brookwood, but I can't think of what they are called. All of the 1958 wagon models have this piece as well. Any help?|||Generically, it's side trim or side chrome. Specifically, there is trim/chrome for the fender, door, quarter panel, rocker, and a small piece between the doors. Yeoman, Brookwood, and Nomad didn't all have the same amount of trim on the side, so I think you are talking about the rocker panel since you say they all have it.

How do I find out about the warranty I have on my 04 Chevy Tahoe?

My husband and I purchased and 04 Chevy Tahoe back in October of 2006. We aslo purchased an extended warranty with it to cover anything that breaks. Well we are looking to trade it in for a different vehicle and I was thinking about canceling the warranty on the SUV before we trade it in so we can get that money back, we financed it through Americredit (don't ask me why b/c my husband has excellent credit and Americredit is a secondary lender, but anyways...) How do I go about cancelling the extended warranty? Approximatly how long does it take to recieve the check in the mail?|||You can get a refund on most warranties, however it will be pro-rated and won't be much. If you got the warranty at the dealership, go and see the Finance Manager and tell him you want to cancel your warranty. It will take a few weeks to receive the funds, so you'll have to be patient. I hope this helps and you can email if you have questions.|||Ive never heard of anyone being able to cancel the warrenty on their vehicle before but i guess that would be up to the dealership. If it still has a decent warrenty on it, maybe the dealership you are trading it in at will give you more for it. A vehicle is worth more when its protected by warrenties. You should have recieved something in the mail concerning your warrenty as well. It took a few months to get my information. I would check with the dealership you are thinking of buying from first and see what they will do for you, and if they dont offer you more for your tahoe then go back to the original dealership you bought it from and ask them for the information.|||I don't think you can cancel almost 2 years into a contract! Even if you could, the refund would go to the lender, not you.|||You'll only get guesses here. Call the company that sold you the extended warranty and they should be able to tell you their cancellation/refund process.

How to identify a Chevy muscle car?

My Ford and Chrysler friends all seem to be able to identify every Chevy muscle car just by looking at the tail lights. They even know the year, make and model of these Chevy's just by the tail lights. How can this be?|||year,make,%26amp; model is easy because they were all different. back in the day not every car looked the same...not even a little [ except for the 63/64 impala %26amp; a few other year combination,s...the tail lamp,s were very similar but the body style was slightly different]...but you could not tell if it was a muscle car by that...a 65 %26amp;66 body style were very similar [ impala/caprice] but the tail lamp,s were different...to know if it was a muscle car could only be determined [ from a distance] if it had the SS emblem...%26amp; even that did not assure that a simple belair didn't have a big block,4 speed ,posi rear end, dual exhaust, etc. no...you could tell the year , make %26amp; model...but not if it was muscle car unless you got up close %26amp; personal....even now you can take an old chevelle %26amp; put the right trim, emblem,s %26amp; power train to come up with a SS clone...but the V.I.N. number will allway,s tell the truth....that said...it was easy to tell the year,make,%26amp; model because they changed the style,s every year...at least until the 70,s when not a whole lot changed ...like the montecarlo from 70 to 72..little thing,s like the front grill or front signal lamp,s changed...but hard to tell from the side or rear.|||the design..i can identify evey chevy from 55 to 70 full size...chevele from 64 to 70..they changed every yr and each looks differnt..|||The year is molded into the lens in small raised letters.|||my brother is the same way (and he doesn't even have to be close to the car) ...

practice, I guess.|||Back in the 60s and 70s, automakers had the mindset that if someone wanted to buy a car with specific features, they would have bought it that year. So they changed things every year, so that no two years were identical. Myself, I can't identify a lot of them, but a few I can, like 1968-1970 chargers. For example, 68 charger had dual round taillights on each side, while 69 and 70 had panel taillights that covered the entire rear. The 68 had round side marker lights, 69 and 70 were rectangle. As for grilles, the 68 was an open grille, 69 had the classic split grille, and 70 went back to the open full width grille like the 68, but had a chrome strip through the center of it running side to side. I know Chevelles had the same deal going on.|||Yeah, you could identify all the big 3's musclecars by just spotting them from the sixties through the late seventies.|||In the 60's and 70's there were Malibus and Novas with a big block motor, and some with an in line 6 cyl, so not every car of the same year is a "muscle car"

Muscle cars typically ran a big engine, and you can't tell what engine it has by the tail lights.|||friends are putting you on/some vettes are too close to call/also early chevelles/and camaros/they are reading the dates on the lense|||It comes with being around cars alot, working with them, going to car shows, etc.

Its not JUST the tail lights. Its the basic shape of car plus things likethe tail lights, or head lights.

Like 60's and early 70's covettes and camaros had tail lights that was round and look pretty close, but we all can tell the diff in the shape of the rear of a camaro and vette.

X year had single head light per side where the next year had 2 per side, or X year had tail fins,

Its all the little details that goes with the car and alot of those details changed each year

How to fix the backseat of a Chevy Gladiator?

What is the difference between a Volvo Penta v8 aq231a engine and a Chevy 305 small block?

I need to know the exact difference between the vp v8 and the chevy small block and if possible the reason.|||What you have is a marinized GM V8.

When they build them for the marine application they install brass freeze plugs instaed of steel which will rust out with time. The camshaft is marine because it runs in a differant RPM range than automotive and the valve springs are heavier.

The starter and alternator have a spark shield in them to prevent any explosion or fire with a spark created in the bilge area . The fuel pump is also differant in that it has a fitting for a tygon hose which runs up to the carb so if the daiphragm in the pump breaks the fuel is passed to the carb to be used. In a automotive pump there is a weep hole which would leak gas into the bilge. Basically thats it|||The chev small block 305 5 litre has a hp range of about 135 hp to about 250 hp. all depends on how it is configured.

The volvo AQ231A uses the same 305 5 litre motor and is configured to produce231 hp , hence AQ231 , plus the AQ motor is marinized to cope with salt water cooling.|||Just the make of the motor. I know the volvo uses an actual radiator, like a car. I assume you are talking about a bayliner, I have one myself and I love it.

What is the easiest way to replace a water pump in a 01 chevy cavalier?

I have 100,008 miles on this car and just then water dumped out of my chevy like it was a flood! It slow leaks water when it's off and pours like the nile when it's idling.

I am looking to know that the water pump is the right diagnosis, what tools are required to, and how to replace this part myself. Reason: Cause I'm trying to save on about $450.00 of labor. The part is only $23.00. :P

Any helpful answer is appreciated, thanks.|||depends on the engine size.the small one takes a few hours and z engine takes almost 7 hours to do.|||Actually, I'd like to add that it is not the Z and is a 2.2L sohc. The hoses all are fine and "non squishy", and the water pump assembly to its 'bracket'[?] is perfectly viewable. I've already been quoted as the cheapest at $260.

What starter do i need for a chevy 350 small block?

I have an '84 Camaro and i just recently put a Chevy 350 small block in it. I also had a new starter put into it, and it grinds when i try and start it. Anyone know how to fix this? Do i need a new starter? What kind of starter?|||The Chevy starters need to be shimmed. There should have been some metallic shims that came with your new starter. If not you can ask the parts house for some. Start off with two shims sandwiched in between your starter and the block, you will see the bolt holes in the shims.|||they are all right about the shims, when you buy a starter it usually has the shims and a little rod tool that you use to measure the distance between the starter shaft and flywheel. do something about it soon or you will damage the starter and flywheel. it's easy to replace the starter, but a whole lot harder to replace the flywheel. good luck|||You might need shims to move the starter out from the bolts and closer to the flywheel gears.

You say you "had" a new starter put in. Doesn't the person who put the new starter in know what he did and didn't do, and is his work guaranteed?|||your grinding isnt a starter issue, its a shim issue, go to autozone and get some starter shims. that will solve your issues. put the thinnest shim in and thicker as needed. it comes in a kit.|||Chevrolet starters need shims between the starter and block or bell housing. anyone that works on Chevy's will have shims and they will probably give them to you.

How much will it cost to fix a broken axle on a 1987 chevy celebrity?

I have a 1987 Chevy Celebrity Station Wagon and I think the axle is broken, but I cannot really tell. I just need to know how much that is going to cost, and how i can tell the difference between a broken axle and a broken ti-rod.|||CV Axle is about $60, installation should take less than two hours. So I would guesstimate depending on your local shop rates about $150-$200.

Tie rod you would lose steering ablity, the CV joint you would lose power.

Another way to know.. If its a grinding noise and a jumping wheel its a CV Joint in the axle bad, if your car accellerates fine but pulls funny or drifts bad then its in the steering.|||Describe the symptoms you are experiencing, or the noise it makes. Without this information it is not possible to diagnose the problem. Does it make noise when you turn the car, or when it goes over a bump, and what noise.

To figure out the cost of the repair, call any auto parts store and ask how much the part is that you need. It may be a ball joint, constant velocity joint, or suspension part. When you know what part ask and they will tell you. Then call three places, independent service place and a dealer for your make, they will tell you the amount of labor to change the part, and their labour rate. Now you will know how much for the repair. To have your car checked out by a garage would take no longer than 15 minutes to find the problem, but they will want to charge you a half hour. 2002 chevy blazer with garage door opener. How do I program it to my garage?

I just bought a 2002 chevy blazer and recently found out that it is equipped with a garage door opener. Does anyone know how to reprogram it so that it will work on my garage?|||Here is a link to the instructions. Answer the questions in the drop-down menus and then click on the Search button and it will give you video instructions and printable instructions.

http://www.homelink.com/program.php|||It should be in the owners manual, but ..... on the motor for the opener there should be a program button, depress the button and then you have maybe 30 seconds to get in your vehicle a depress the button in the truck, you will see the garage door move down when it is programmed correctly. How much would a 1985 K5 Chevy silverado blazer cost me?

The 1985 K5 Chevy silverado blazer has new paint and no rust. The original miles are 108,000. The engine is a 305. So what is the highest someone can charge for it?|||They can charge whatever they want. How much will you pay? That depends on how much you want a K-5. (as well as how much others do) K-5s are pretty sought after in good shape, so they are quite a bit more expensive than a similar year Ford Bronco. If it is good paint, the running gear is in good shape, and the motor runs well I could see it going for as much as 4-5000. The typical model with a stock paint and even a bit of age damage, 15-2500.|||my 1984 with the 305 swapped out for a 350 cost $4,000 but it could cost less, mine was just in perfect condition with new paint|||Depends on the overall appearance and how bad someone wants it. How to repair a '99 Chevy that won't start?

My '99 chevy suburban does not start unless you add gas directly to the fuel injector throttle body. After you do it, then it starts and runs normally. Does anyone know how to repair this?|||If the fuel pump is making strange noises when the ignition switch goes to " on ", I would suspect it as faulty. How do you tune a 2001 chevy impala by yourself?

I want to learn to do a major tune up to my 2001 Chevy Impala. Anyone know a site where I could go to?|||There are three things you can do:

1) Change spark plugs

2) Change spark plug wires

3) Change O2 sensors

This is a major tune up on an '01 Impy. If you want to go a little further, you can do a SeaFoam or BG44K treatment through the gas tank (which will clean the fuel injectors) and use some electronics cleaner to clean the MAF. Beyond that, there isn't much more you can do.|||You don't "need a site" you need to have tools to remove the spark plugs and wires. You might also check the coil terminals, they get rusty and need cleaning. The best way to learn is hire a mechanic that does side jobs and watch when he does the job. If he knows what he's doing he won't mind you watching.|||i don't think you would need a site all you have to do is change the plug wires and change the spark plug wires and maybe change the O2 sensor and then run a bottle of fuel system cleaner through the tank if you want to you could drop the tank and change the fuel filter.|||check your local college for an evening auto shop class

How to make a stock 1992 Chevy silverado 1500 faster?

It will be throttle body fuel injected if still stock.

Headers, dual exhaust, good flowing mufflers, high flow cats,

Performance chip for the ECU

K%26amp;N cold air system with k%26amp;N air filter

Throttle body spacer

Aftermarket TBI intake

Aftermarket lager (600-670 cfm) throttle body

Full tune up, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc

3.42, 3.73, or 4.10 rear gear ratio

2200-2600 rpm stall torque converter

Trans GO reprogramming kit for transmission

After that, all thats left is going inside engine.

Better flowing heads, bigger cam, more compression, etc etc|||Your best bet is to leave it stock or you're looking for problems.

The 350 should be fast enough, if it feels like it really isn't then there is a problem, however, you should first make sure that your filters are fresh, the most obvious is the air filter, but alot of people overlook the fuel filter, definitely change that.

If your state doesn't do emission testing (Florida, and probably a few others), replace your catylitic converter with a straight pipe. I recently did that on my 81 Oldsmobile (my state doesn't emmission test any car over 25 years old), and there was a nice improvement to engine power.|||Money! Money makes it faster, what's your budget? The more you can spend on performance parts the faster it will go. But trust me the more power you make the more you will break.

Your stock truck should be able to achieve any legal speed limit in the USA. If you want to pull stuff you can increase HP and torque by making changes to the intake system, cylinder heads, valves, camshaft and lifters. GM makes a high torque stroker small block that is 383 CID developing enough ponies and torque to twist the axles off. It runs about 6000 and is complete except for the induction system. Then a good 4L80E or a built 4L60E trans should handle street use.|||definatly a true dual exhaust system meaning there are two separate exhausts with own cat and muffler opposed to one pipe into two set up. cherry bomb is a nice exhaust. an intake k%26amp;n makes a great one. if its computer controlled a superchips which can add 100 hp. supercharger will make it fly but those are like 4 grand for a decent one. ram air hood looks cool and adds power. also some good spark plugs will add some horsepower denso irridiums are the best|||clean to show room new and lube everything that moves, anything and everything that makes it move should be shiny bright to new in condition, including the tires balanced and inflated to the proper pressure, you want the least rolling resistance as possible, nothing causing friction in the air and causing it to slow down|||liam is right about the carb but is wrong about the bore. dont get it bored unless you are losing compression (look up compression test on google). boreing only gives you like 3 more ci. your best bet is a new camshaft, carb, intake manifold and headers if you wanna start bumping it up.|||try a air injector, computer programmer, or even a better set of wires and plugs.|||Get it bored out and/ or add bigger carbs. Lighten where poss and take the handbrake off.

How much horsepower can a 355 chevy engine crankout?

I you were to put everything availible to the open market and still have it be street legal, how much horseepower could a chevy 355 have?|||If you're saying "everything available", no budget, you can likely put easily over 1000 hp out of the 355.

You would need to bulletproof the bottom end, with aftermarket caps and the works, and run studs for the heads, with o-ringed gaskets. Pure ragged edge heads and a beastly cam. No standard fuel - set it up to run on E85, and a lot of focus on a powerful ignition system. On top of that, lots of boost - twin turbos matched to the hp curve, looking to make those numbers around 6000-6500 rpm.

A naturally aspirated 355 is easily capable of over 1hp without much on it in the way of mods. Nobody here thinks you couldn't double down under an ungodly amount of boost?

One man's "sick and unmanageable" is another man's "street legal". I know of a guy who runs a fairly radical minitubbed Nova with a Lenco on the street - his car is registered and legal to drive. Not that any normal driver would consider it remotely accommodating - he does.|||I build 1,000+ HP Naturally Aspirated 350's regularly. I also build them at that HP level and well above that with forced induction which will lend you the power at a more realistic RPM. However, there is just as much involved in making something at that output level live and stay together as there is in effectively "moving" that much worth of air through it to make that kind of power. In Naturally Aspirated form, it's NOT going to even remotely come close to that power level with a conventional cylinder head on it, and 14:1 + Compression, to start with.

While you can certainly accomplish it with money, other than the sake of the conversation or argument, it's insanely unrealistic.

For the money, a Big Block Chevy is the cheapest cost per HP in the engine business. And the most reliable, too.|||Grab a magazine like "HOT ROD" and you'll see lots of examples.

I've never built one up, but I've seen them dyno engines they have built. 700 HP, street legal is doable.

Most folks are able to get 400-450 BHP out of a 355. BUT.... if you have all the money in the world...

I heard someone was going to do a 900 HP small block. Dont' know if they were increasing the cubes using a small block or keeping it at 355 though.

If you put nitrous on a turbocharged 355 that's been bored and stroked to 400, you can get a ton of power. There are lots of weekend drag racers who do this stuff all day long.

I think if you're keeping the cubes at 355, don't care about making the engine last, use a blower and nitrous, you can get 600-800hp.

There is a rule of thumb. Getting 1 hp per cubic inch is pretty standard these days, even without a blower or nitrous. So 355 is almost a sure thing if you know what you're doing.

Another theory... Getting 100 HP per liter (355 cu in = about 5.8 L) is also not uncommon. That said, because a smaller engine is easier to spin faster, and since HP = (RPM * Torque)/5252, increasing RPM without doing anything else raises horsepower, so it's not uncommon to see a smaller displacement engine, like Honda's 2.0 L 4 cyl in the S2000 making more than 100 HP per Liter (naturally aspirated). The 2.0 L in the Honda S2000 makes 240 HP or 120 HP per L.

So in theory, you should be able to do the same with the 5.8L chevy - so, 5.8 multiplied by 1.2 is 6.96 - so I still say 700HP is possible and there are lots of cars in hot rod magazines to prove it.

I can't find any examples in my 2 minutes searching Google, but... I bet someone has used a turbo, super charger and or nitrous and I'm sure, someone has built a 900 HP maybe even 1000 HP street legal 355.

And they spent a FORTUNE to do it ; )

Most folks seem to be able to get 350hp to 450HP though.

Here's a 378 getting close to 700 HP

http://www.lingenfelter.com/engine-packa鈥?/a>

Good luck.|||over 1000 hp it might be street legal annd that is a street legal crap is a myth but at 1000hp it wouldnt be a car you would want to drive around on the street because all the power would be made at 5000 rpm and above so if you say didnt rev it past 4000 rpm a chevette could out run you|||A reasonable engine could produce 420hp naturally aspirated, 700+ turbocharged.|||550 horse power for the carbon fibre super car chevelet|||Your question has no backbone to it. Sounds like something a teenager would ask.

Be real and get real answers. Give more detail.

What does street legal mean? Street legal has alot of meanings based on the state you live in, the car engine is in, etc.

Have to have emission test on newers cars in most states so putting it in a 1986 monte carlo in CA. you might be able to get 400 HP and be street legal.

Put it in a non emissions tested car and your only limit is fuel

With no budget limit. I could do a 355 with 15* heads, twin turbos, water injection, nitrous cooled intercooler and get you about 1600 HP out of it

It will be street legal in non emissions car but would need 110 octane or better race fuel to run, and it would take a very skilled driver to drive it, couldnt drive it if there was any dampness to the roads at all, etc etc.. Oh and it would get about 3 to 4 miles per the gal of fuel

If you want more real world answers then with a fuel limit of 93 octane pump fuel, you can get around 800 HP out of a 355 with forced induction

Around 550 or so max N/A

My 355 is right at 600 HP N/A at the crank but to most folks its not streetable. Its street legal and my daily driver but as I said to most its looked at as a race engine/race car

idles at 1000-1100 rpm, wont run on less than 93 octane, needs a 3500 stall converter at min, makes its power between 3000-7500 rpm, not enough vac to run/work power brakes so have to run man. brakes

What happens when a 2003 chevy tahoe runs out of gas and will not start when more gas is added?

My wife ran our 2003 chevy tahoe out of gas. I have added more gas to the vehicle, but it will not start. What could be the problem?|||Over time sediment and impurities settle and collect at the bottom of a fuel tank. When your wife ran the vehicle out of gas, this was sucked up into your fuel system. Your Tahoe has an in tank filter as well as a fuel filter. Check the fuel filter under the hood. Also, as new as your vehicle is, it's unlikely there would be enough deposits to cause this, so try cranking it over a few more times. Good luck.|||you should have a fuel pump shut off in the passenger floor board it has probaaly tripped reset it an it should work|||your pump shut off switch should have tripped. and if not probabbly need a new pump there about $200 at checker parts store . hope it's just tripped. good luck.|||Its fuel injected my friend! It will take a professional to restart that engine! Not good!!!!! You should never ever let a fuel injected engine run out of fuel!!!!!!|||Get inside the vehicle and listen very carefully as you turn the key forward. It has to be very quiet . You should hear a low hum or buzzing noise in the back of the vehicle . if not , you may have burned out the fuel pump relay/ fuse . or in the worst case you may have burned out the fuel pump. They are electric in the tank and actually the fuel helps cool them . if they run too long on empty , sometimes as they are sucking a few drops at a time they can heat up and go out. Hopefully just a fuse .

They'll also pay that but you usually have to ask. Go to KBB.com like the above answer suggested and print out a retail price sheet for your car. How do I temporarly disconnect the air bag system in a 2000 chevy blazer?

I need to replace the turning switch in my 2000 chevy blazer. I don't want the airbags to accidentally go off. I can't afford to take my car to a mechanic so I need assistance with this. So any advice will help. Thank you.|||The connector plug under the dashboard is typically yellow. Make sure you remove the negative cable from the battery terminal to do this. However, if you're just replacing the turn signal, then all you should really need to do is to disconnect the negative terminal. The airbag won't deploy. You can also disconnect the positive cable for piece of mind.|||Disabling an airbag system is both dangerous for some owners (drivers) and necessary for others. The guidelines set forth by the government will outline who qualifies for this procedure and why it may be necessary. There is much information on the safety concerns and the dangers involved in disabling these systems. Check out these quick movies and website to understand the importance of airbag safety.

If it's stricktly for the track, you may need to get a tranny that's geared for the track. You will also need to make sure the rest of the drive train can handle the extra torq. You will also need to install a roll bar %26amp; other safety gear.

It takes a lot of work to get ready for track.|||A vehicle with 400 hp, that weighs 4000lbs can run mid twelves in the quarter mile if everything is optimized. First, you have no baseline run before your enginge upgrades, so you have no starting point. Guessing that a stock c10 will get down the track in somewhere less than twenty seconds,

What you should have done was to go to the raceway before you did anything and run it just for some time slips. Then install the edelbrock and see what you picked up.

What will i have to do to make a stock 89 chevy 350 fuel injection compatable with a newer chevy vortec?

what all does the newer chevy 350 vortec (1996-2004) have that the 89 chevy 350 doesent. is it the engine it self or can i mod it up to a vortec. with like vortec heads and intake and what not.|||You can put 350 vortec heads on a TBI (throttle Body injection) engine.

You will have to get an aftermarket intake. GM Performance and Holley make them. They are about $295 new. The vortec heads are will make about 40 -70 more horse power on you 89. Check out WWW.TBICHIPS.COM The has a lot of information on putting Vortec heads on a TBI engine.

What is the best way to install a windshield in a 1969 chevy truck?

i am having trouble putting the front windshield in my 69 chevy truck any tips on how to put it in?|||this windshield uses a rubber seal. that rubber must be warm prior to the install and put around the windshield. when this is done, take a small nylon rope that has been sprayed with a lube(pb blaster, wd-40,etc) wrap it in the outer groove of the rubber seal. then lay the windshield over the opening of the truck, with the two ends of the rope at the center/ bottom of the glass. while someone is applying light pressure on the glass, slowing pulling both ends of the rope of the rubber seal over the lip of the body. this must be done slowly while massaging the windshield into place. after the rope has been pulled setting the rubber over the lip. continue the downward pressure until it has been fully set up. when you are all done. ally a trail of vasoline on the outside of the rubber, wiping the excess off afterwards. not that hard, takes patience, pressure, and two people.|||if that has the rubber all around it without the glue you need to get it out and save the rubber. i put my feet up on mine and pushed it out it was cracked and was really cracked after i got it out. glass everywhere. but after its out you have the rubber and didnt have to cut it. put the rubber on the glass and not on the body. then take some small but strong string put it all around the grove of the rubber that is on the glass and leave the two ends meet at the center in the bottom of the glass. set it in place and try to get steel edge in grove along the botom. then with someone applying LIGHT preasure to the glass on the out side sit inside and pull the strings straight back at equal amounts until you go all the way around|||I was going to suggest that you look up a HAYNES book (at the library or glance thru one in the auto store) but I'm not sure they'd have one for a 69. Sorry|||If it has a rubber gasket around the outside, it too will need replaced, then use a small rope, after installing the gasket on the windshield, place the rope in the slot, ending the rope at the top, lay the lower gap on the steel frame, and pull the rope while someone holds the windshield.

If it has trim, just purchase a roll of butul from the auto parts store and it has directions with it.

How much does it cost for a 1962 Chevy Truck?

Hey ya'll this is Roger Vent from South Carolina. I gots me a proglem. My brother who I ain't seen for many moons just showed up from the state of Georgia and he says that he only owes me 200 dollars for the chevy truck I got for him back in the day. I know he owes me more than that. What price do ya'll think my brother dodger should pay me for this good ol chevy I got for Him. I sure ain't taking him to calabash anytime soon I'll tell ya that much buddy.|||you need to go to kellybluebook.com or kbb.com and enter in the information on the truck, the quality, the miles, ect....it depends on the condition|||he owes you whatever you paid for the vehicle - there is no book value on a vehicle this old|||If you are asking the value, today, of a 1962 Chevrolet truck, there is no such thing as a "standard value" for a 45 year old vehicle, And you didn't bother to tell who has actual possession of it, or what the condition is to make it even harder to guess.

What is a good Chassis for a rat rod with a 542 chevy big block?

Im planning on building a rat rod with a 542 Chevy big block and don't know what chassis I should use.|||The S10 truck frames are used in alot of projects like this as it lends it's self well to mods, easy to fab, will fit a v8, and has a good front suspension design. Also alot of parts already made that will fit the S10 frames like drop kits, rear suspension kits, air ride kits, ford 9" rear ends, etc|||If you want to go max (sounds like you might) you need a tubular chassis, or at least a tubular sub-frame. These are made for most body styles - I like Jegs. ARP is another quality manufacturer. You also need ladder bars or a four link to hook up your rear tires (transfer weight properly). I suggest ladder bars for street - four links are too touchy to set-up.

I like the intermediate size because I am 6'6". I've had two '66 Chevelle SS396s. One factory new and pretty modified (dropped in a 435 hp 427 crate motor) - one extremely modded, including a full Jegs chassis. BTW: I opted for a jig-welded front end - I suggest you do the same. Saves a lot of weight and functions better, especially with the tubular chassis.

A Chevy II/Nova or Camaro are other good choices if you want to stay Chevy and are not Sasquatch tall.

How to give a 1991 chevy stepside with a vortec 350 more power?

I am buying a 91 chevy stepside that has a 99 vortec 350 in it, and I would like to sup it up more. I feel the need for speed! Can anyone help me?|||you can supe up the motor all you want but the true question is what kind of speed are you looking for? drag racing i.e. short sprints, long speed i.e. running down the freeway for hours on end. that is the real question here the wisest thing to do is play with rear gear and tire sizes. your motor can have 500 hp and a 290 rear gear and it will take forever to hit 60 but with a 4.10 gear you could stand that truck on the back bumper. we can figure out the right things to do to build your truck. i am building a 1971 Chevy C-10 step side and these are the question i have been asked so hit me up and we will get it done.|||Put a bigger cam in it and a bigger intake

Where are the voltage regulator and starter relay located on a 1997 Chevy Venture Mini Van?

My 1997 Venture Mini Van is the first Chevy I've ever owned. The starter just clicks rapidly when I attempt to start it. Being familiar with Fords, I would check the battery, starter, starter relay, and voltage regulator, as I know where all those are located. I do not however know where the voltage regulator and starter relay are located on the Venture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.|||The Voltage Regulator has been inside the Alternator for many years now on most cars, about 35 years on Chevy's. It's been controlled by the ECM for about 20-some years on most Chevy's. The Starter Relay, such as it is, is a part of the Starter Solenoid function. Basically it takes the place of the Starter Relay and the pole-shoe assembly on the old Fords.

The clicking that you're hearing is the Starter Solenoid, basically engaging and then disengaging because you don't have enough juice to work the Starter Motor. Which of course could be because your Alternator is not charging the Battery, as well as a worn out Battery, or poor connections.

Best thing to do at this point is check all your connections, then jump the Battery to get it going, and check the Voltage while the car is running. If it's around 13 to 15 volts, and you didn't leave any lights on, it's probably time for a new Battery. If it's below 12.6, then you have a Charging System problem.|||You need to check your battery. It is either low or the terminals and posts are dirty. The clicking you hear is the starter relay.should make it easy to find. The regulator is in the alternator so check alternator output at battery terminals, should read 14.5 volts. Fully charged battery will read 13.5 volts.|||The voltage regulator is now a built-in unit at the alternator. Unless you take the alternator apart, you cannot gain access to it. The starter relay is also located inside the starting motor.

If you hear rapid clicking sound while you turned your ignition key but the engine failed to turn or catch on, you should check the battery or give the battery a boost. Your battery is likely low.|||its on the starter its self duh lol

Can i put a automatic transmission from 1985 Chevy pickup in 1970 Chevy pickup with manual transmission?

The 1985 pickup is a Chevy 3/4 ton pickup, and the the 1970 pickup is half ton. If i do put the automatic transmission in the 1970 would i have to also put the steering columns in from the 1985 pickup? Both pickups have small block 350s. and i also want to swap them out so will the holes to mount the engine line up?|||Yes you can. It will take a lot of work to rebuild the engine to work with the automatic transmission and rebuild the steering console to make it automatic.|||This is a very brazen swap. You will have to deal with the new tranny cross-member mount location and a new drive-line yoke to match. You most likely will have to re-size the drive line length,as well. The column shift range may be enough to accommodate the tranny,if the newer tranny is a 3-spd auto. Very important that the neutral lock-out remains very much effective- you don't want your frankenstein to run someone over! Always adjust the shifter to be positively sure to hold the 'park' slot. Make sure that the E-brakes are allways engaged and effective- when parked. The '85 tranny should utilize the same kick-down cable and vacuum modulator, but inter-year changes,at that time, may have the 3/4 tons running on the tvc cable ,of loan command. These must be attached to the '85 intake and carb assembly to be accurately adjustible within defineable ranges.|||The transmissions will physically bolt up. You don't need to swap out steering columns; I don't know if the 85 will fit yours; you may have to source one from a 70 automatic truck (or go aftermarket).

Also, pay attention to vacuum connections (and tv cables, if you're dealing with the TH400 or its variants.

You may also have to likely swap out/move and possibly redrill the mount holes for the transmission crossmember, and possibly need to either change out tailhousings or change your driveshaft length. Physically measure both trannies to figure this one out.

There's a couple of other minor bits and pieces you'll need to figure out on the fly as well.|||The swap should be no problem. My truck is a 1970 and it has a 1986 700R4 transmission. To make the swap a little easier, get a shifter that goes on the floor, then you don't need to worry about the column. If you put in the column for the 85, you will have 2 ignition switches. You will have to make some adjustment to the transmission cross member. I don't know if the cross member for the manual transmission can be used with the automatic. Make sure you either use the brackets from the 85 or buy new for the kick-down/TV cable for the tranny.|||the 15 years difference, I dont think so, U can find an adapter, and a '70 has less power then '85 and it may damage a trany, steering column probably has to be changed also plus the cooling lines and a radiator...

its easier to rebuild the manual, then to switch, especially with a 15years difference...|||I agree with canam ... You should not have too many problems, its all in the little details.

You dont say if they are 2wd or 4wd. When I swapped the 5 speed for an auto on my 93, I picked up a whole steering column for 75 bucks.

You could easily put a floor shifter in since you have the hole in the floor already.

Best of Luck!

How to wire a DVD player into the dome light of our chevy venture van?

We just got a DVD player that mounts to the center dome light in our 04' Chevy Venture, the only problem is that we aren't sure which wires go to which wires. The instructions don't tell us and we can't find any diagrams for the wiring in the venture. Do the red, yellow, and black wires on the DVD player go to the purple, gry and black wires in the dome light or what? What color goes to what color?|||You should only have two wires to the dome light, a positive and a negative. You can tell them apart by one gets grounded by the screw that attaches the light to the roof. Or if you cant figure that one out you will need to buy a light tester.|||Gray/Black is the circuit for the dimmed courtesy lights when shutting doors.

Purple is the switched power feed from your interior light switch

Solid black is ground.

Typically, on aftermarket electronics with wire colors you've described, you want red to be on a permanent power supply, for memory reasons. Yellow will be your switched on power, and black will be ground. ( I could have red and yellow reversed in that analogy, been a long time since I did electronic installs. )

From what I see, you shouldn't be wiring this to the dome lights, unless you constantly run around with your dome lights switched on, because thats the only time the purple wire sees any power.

How do I install my distributor and set my timing on my chevy 305?

I recently rebuilt my chevy 305 tbi in my silverado. I made the mistake of not marking the distributor before i pulled it and now i don't know how it should be put back in. I know i have to have the 1st cylinder at tdc (atleast that's what i've been told) but i can't seem to find any markings on the distributor or the intake manifold to help me reinstall it. Also, I realize I'm going to need to use a timing light to get it adjusted right, but doesn't the engine have to be somewhat running to do this? Last question: In the very likely event that I can't get the distributor in right and it's a lost cause, do you know what it will cost (roundabout #) to have this done for me? Any help would be great. The more details the better!|||Ouch. You will need to take the timing cover off, which takes some work, pulling the hamonic balancer and water pump. The cam gear and the crank gear will have a mark on it. Bump the engine until the cam and crank marks are together (crank mark up and cam mark down). Then install the distributor so that the rotor is pointing to fire plug #1. This will be TDC. You may have to put a long screwdriver down the distributor hole to line up the slot on the oil pump rod with the pin in the bottom of the distributor. I don't know of an easier way of doing it.

Addition: After you have the distributor back in, the water pump and timing cover sealed up, put the balancer back on. Then yes you will have to fire the engine to set the timing. It's few hours worth of work to do this, but it's the only way I know.

Addition 2: If you haven't moved the oil pump shaft and feel that it's in the same position, try Jesse's answer before you rip the engine apart. If the shaft hasn't moved, you can luck out that way, which I hope you do, because my way is a fall back pain in the *** method. Most likely that method will work.|||Janelle is wrong-dot to dot at the timing gears are top dead center (firing) on #6 cyl. Do as some of the others say and just crank the engine to find compression at #1(finger in sparkplug hole for feel of it) and align the balancer mark up to the indicater tdc. With the distributor in hand-(vacuum advance in your left hand at about the 9 o,clock position and the rotor at the 3:30 o'clock position) insert the distributor into the opening and drop it down. It will enguage the camshaft gear with a minor twisting of the rotor shaft and will drop lower as the rotor shaft enguages. If the housing does not fully seat(on the intake manifold) then the oil pump slot has to be turned to match the distributor shaft protrusion as the distributor slides down. This can take time and the ideal orientation is the rotor pointing to 5:30 o'clock position and the vacuum advance near the 9-10 o'clock position.|||Remome no. 1 spark plug , bump the engine while someone watches the timing marks and holds their finger over the plug hole. When compresion forces air out of no. 1 cylinder. finish rotating the engine so that the timing mark on the balancer aligns with 0 on the timing scale. With the timing mark aligned, now install the distributor so that the rotor points straight forward. This is not exact, but it will get you in the "ball park", enough to start it. It may be neccesary to remove the distributor to adjust it 1 notch to be able to set your timing exact , however this should get it started.|||it easy brother, you said you know your #1 cylinder is at tdc

yes . OK then loosen your distributor bolt so you can move your distributor back and forth, now then on the top of your distributor cap find the mark . it is a #1 marked on it . make sure it aligns with your rotor . if it is not try to get it as close as you can , now then reinstall your distributor cap and hold your #1 plug wire about a 1/4 inch from a good ground source , now turn your ignition key on but DO NOT crank the engine

, now then slowly turn your distributor until you hear a click or see the spark coming from the wire in between the wire and

the good ground source .try a couple of times . you will get it . once you get the spark hold it in place and tight the holding bolt on your distributor.turn your ignition off and reinstall your wire on your plug , and voila you are all set you don't even need an timing light . good luck . it works every time .just make sure your # 1 cylinder is at TDC. and your rotor is align with the mark on the distributor cap|||Jessie's right on the money.

A very easy way to find tdc.. Remove the valve cover on the side closest to the left front wheel. If you have solid lifters both intake and exhaust rocker arms will be in the closed position. If not, spin the oil pump with a tool avalable at any auto parts store till the hydraulic lifters pump up. Number one cylinder (left front) rocker arms will be in the closed position. check the timing mark on the dampener it should be at 0 degrees. drop your distributor in. If it will not drop all the way to the intake manifold do either of two things:

#1.Remove the distributor and line up the center groove of the oil pump with a long screwdriver till the distributor drops all the way in. Clamp it down start it and time the motor with the vacuum advance disconnected.

#2. If the distributor does not drop all the way down have someone firmly hold it and you just bump the starter. The distributer will fall into place.

I wish you would have said if your distributer did or did not have a vacuum advance mechanism.|||With the motor on TDC, there will be a mark on the hamonic balancer for TDC, put the distrib in so that the rotor tab faces the #1 piston or spark plug. If it won't run run then you are 180* out. That means you pull the distrib out on TDC when the tab faces away from #1, and put it back in facing #1. Thats about all there is to it. Good luck!|||Yes it is a lost cause, you are working on a chevy give it up. Timing or not it will still run horribly.

How long does a 1994 Chevy Camaro last on average?

I'm wondering about how many miles will a 1994 Chevy Camaro last? Not based on how it is maintained, just on average how long do they last?|||There are two engines available on it, a V6 and a V8

What octane of gasoline should I use in a motorhome with a Chevy 350 engine in it?

I just bought a motorhome with a Chevy 350 in it. The Chassis is an '89 Chevrolet 1-ton van. I have never owned a 350 and have no idea what octane I should put in it.|||normal octane (87ish) should do it.

if you can buy the better stuff reasonably you'll get a little better mileage and it will help to keep the engine cleaner internally too.

also, if the thing seems a bit sluggish on hills or under load the super or midgrade should help with that.

good luck! |||It should run on 87 octane, unless someone has done some performance mods to it.....|||yeah put mid grade, it''ll run cleaner. and do a tune up.|||Higher octane does not equal more power or a cleaner engine. Higher octane levels cause the gas to burn slower in the cylinder. It's important for high-compression motors to prevent predetonation and pinging, but unless someone has done a lot of work to that 350, there is no need.

87 octane is fine.|||use whatever the owners manual calls for.

Can a Chevy 454 fit in a 1968 Chevy Impala sedan & what I need to do so ?

I bought a 68' Chevy Impala sedan with the 327 in it. It has A/C, Heat and Powersteering. I would like to put a 454 in it. If it would fit, what all would I need to do to get it up and running?|||The only thing you will really need is a set of exhaust pipes. You will also need peripherals to fit the big block such as brackets to mount the alternator, power steering pump and a/c pump. All the rest will work.|||Too late to answer the OP: As well you'll need a smaller power brake booster if you have drum brakes, a correct oil pan, truck pans won't fit because of the drag link, a cowl hood (engine is taller) check rad for cooling cap in addition to what the others said.

|||There is no problem putting the 454 in your sixty-eight but you should get all of the brackets for the Alt,A/c Comp/ Power steering pump and all . The measurement for the front motor mount to the transmission is the same for all big blocks and small blocks alike . There may be a different motor mount tower for the big block but I don't thinks so. New exhaust will be needed.|||Yes it will fit with all Chevy parts from any Big block, 396,427,454.

Radiator, springs and bigger brakes should be the only replacement parts needed.

You can make a hot car but it still wont be racer, it's just too be heavy.

How do I lift the rear seat up on a 2005 Chevy Equinox to access the battery?

I need to lift the seat "up" not fold it down. In order to access the battery which is under the seat of my 2005 Chevy Equinox, but I have been unable to find out how. There is one big lever under the seat, but I cannot use it to lift the seat up. Perhaps it is jammed? Thanks for your help!|||Under the seat,,,,,,hmmmmmm. Mine was under the hood. All that's under my backseat is some old M%26amp;M's, and a few pennies.|||I've looked through your Owners Manual. I do not see any information as to lift the seat or to fold it forward after the seatback has been folded. Although there is also an option to slide the seat forward. This is all of the information that I was able to find on this subject in your owners manual.

To fold the seatback down, do the following:

1. Ensure all three of the safety belts are unbuckled

and the front seatbacks are not reclined.

2. Lift the lever located on the top of the seatback to

release the seatback.

3. Fold the seatback forward to the desired position.

To recline the seatback, do the following:

1. Ensure all three of the safety belts are unbuckled

and the front seatbacks are not reclined.

2. Lift and hold the lever located on top of the seatback.

3. Tilt the seatback rearward, then release the lever

when the seatback is in the desired position.

To slide the entire seat forward or rearward,

do the following:

1. Lift and hold the release bar located under the

front of the seat cushion to unlock the seat.

2. Slide the seat to the desired position.

3. Release the bar.

4. Try to move the seat back and forth to ensure the

seat is locked in place.

I there another way. Or can I perhaps install a kill switch? Any good site to recommend for these types of car modifications?|||ABS is a proven life saver and skid preventer. Why don't you have someone teach you how to use them properly instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. When they ran tests with and without them, using professional drivers, the ABS won out every time, especially in bad weather conditions. If they're malfunctioning get them fixed. They could save your life.|||ABS brakes are NOT something you want to get rid of, there is a reason they are standard in almost every car now. They are a life saver, on wet or dry roads. Yours may be malfunctioning, one common misconception is that the ABS light is SUPPOSED to be on, well its not. Just like any other light on the dash it signals that something is wrong, not that something is right. How can I purge or clean the injectors on my 1996 chevy blazer?

I have a 1996 chevy blazer and it recently just stalled out and wont start . If I put gas directly into the carb then it will start until the fuel burns off. I pulled the fuel line on the back of the carb and gas is running through it. If it is my injectors could someone tell me how to clean them properly?|||Well, first, you need to make up your mind. Do you have a carb or fuel injectors. You can't have both.|||If you can get the car started, then try adding some fuel injector cleaner in your gas. They really work.

Otherwise, you need to replace them.

What is the correct method to activate four wheel drive on chevy blazer 1984?

I have a 1984 Chevy Blazer, and before I try to start using the 4 wheel drive, I want to know the method to put it in gear so I don't mess up the transmission.Thanks.|||For my 87, the truck must be neutral, and I have to have the brake pedal depressed, before it will allow me to shift the transfer case. Yours is probably the same. If you have automatic hubs, you are on your way. If not, don't forget to get out and lock them (with the truck in Park).|||just leave the truck running, and the transmission in neutral and shift away. if you have the manual locking hubs on the tires you can lock those before or after shifting the transfercase. also wouldnt hurt to back up a inch or so then go forward to make sure they fully engage. sometimes mine gives me trouble from having mud or water in there.
