What is the easiest way to replace a water pump in a 01 chevy cavalier?

I have 100,008 miles on this car and just then water dumped out of my chevy like it was a flood! It slow leaks water when it's off and pours like the nile when it's idling.

I am looking to know that the water pump is the right diagnosis, what tools are required to, and how to replace this part myself. Reason: Cause I'm trying to save on about $450.00 of labor. The part is only $23.00. :P

Any helpful answer is appreciated, thanks.|||depends on the engine size.the small one takes a few hours and z engine takes almost 7 hours to do.|||Actually, I'd like to add that it is not the Z and is a 2.2L sohc. The hoses all are fine and "non squishy", and the water pump assembly to its 'bracket'[?] is perfectly viewable. I've already been quoted as the cheapest at $260.

|||There is no easy way to repace anything in a car today. Just look under the hood and see how cramp everything is . A lot of disassembly is in order to put in the new water pump.|||If you had a ramp to drive it up on, it would help other than that.. a garage|||If you got 100,000 mi. out of a cavalier, count yourself VERY lucky and then burn it!|||It should not cost 450 to replace a water pump - maybe about 250 maximum.

However, if you know nothing about cars, either make the choice to take it to a mechanic (towed) or dump it.

BTW, it may not be a water pump, but a hose.
