What Chevy 350 is legal to put in a 1982 Chevy Camaro in CA?

Ok guys i have a 1982 chevy 350 in the car right now looking for something a little newer and something with a little more power. The 350 i have now runs ok but it only has 180hp so does any on on here know a newer motor or just some parts i can get for the car that will still pass CA smog? Thanks!|||AFAIK only same model year or newer engine in california is legal

or so ive been told and heard this anyways

call a DMV office and ask|||Yep in CA. Same year or newer year engine with all the emission parts for that newer year engine.

Engine must have working heat crossover, EGR, etc.

CA. really sucks for trying to build a car with power. Not even stock vortec heads are emissions legal on an older engine with carb or TBI in CA due to lack of heat crossover passage and EGR valve

You don't really need to swap the engine out though. You can build power with what you have. You just need to do alot of reserch on parts to use.

To make power you need higher compression, better flowing heads, and bigger cam, good free flowing exhaust

You can use these aftermarket parts but you have to make sure there are C.A.R.B approved and 50 state legal|||This may be out of your price range but....

The LS3 E-rod is a LS3 (corvette/camaro motor) crate engine my GMPP meant to meet emissions in any state while producing 430hp
