How many Chevy small block sizes are there and what are they?

I want the put a Chevy small block in my 93 S-10 but want as small a displacement as possible.|||The original small block was a 262 cid. You may be able to find a few in junk yards.

In 1957 came the 283.

Various sizes were in production in the sixties. 283, 302, 327, 350.

All these had the same external dimensions. The diferences are internal.

Now the "Small Block" is made in sizes up to 500 CID. Some of these have larger external dimensions.|||265

283, these are pretty abundant if you know where to look

302

305 not much power, but if you have the right combination it could work

307

327

350 most reliable engine out there, very common

400

and then there are many combinations, here are a few, a crank from a 400 and some machine work will turn a 350 into 383 stroker, or a 327 bored 30 thousands over is a 331, and there are more combinations, there are a few for you to ponder, GM also manufactures a 427 small block, that is the motor in the new ZO6 vette, I believe there is also a 454 small block, not sure though|||The original small block was a 265 not a 262, the 262 was a strange combination that was put in the Monza, otherwise Oscar is correct. I don't understand why you want a small displacement motor since they all weigh pretty much the same. Go for the bigger motor and take it easy on it and you will get better gas mileage and still have performance if you need it. |||The smallest displacement S/B would have little if any more power than a 4.3L V6, which basically a 350 with a couple cylinders missing.

Save a LOT of money and put in a performance 4.3. available at your local parts counter.

The motor in the truck is a 2.8 v6 and the 283 should with no mods fit great in the truck. You can also get loads of power from a 283. |||The smallest were 262 Monza, 265 original 1955 small block, 267 early 80's engine, 283 common late 50'-late 60's, 302 Z28 Camaro, very common 305, and 307 late 70's-early 80's. |||A 350 is a small block. It is the choice of street rodders. Approx. 96% use them in their cars. Nothing smaller. You can buy a new one from GM for under $2,000.|||why do you want small displacemtn?? The actual size of the engine is the same for all small block chevys.
