How much would it cost to paint my 96 Chevy 1500 myself?

I have this 1996 Chevy Muddin truck with a 14 inch lift with no dents or scratches. It is painted grey with orange decals on it, how much would it cost me to sand, prime, and paint it a dark blue color? I have my own sander.|||It depends on what state you live in. Paint costs way more in states with strict VOC laws.

Honestly, you won't like the result. No professional painter uses a power sander or rattle cans.

Ask for prices at the low cost car painting businesses. If you don't have dents to repair and you tell them you only want the minimal amount of prep they can probably do it for the same amount of money you would blow on individual cans of paint and they will do a MUCH better job.|||If you have the sander, air compressor, paint gun, etc then you will need

80, 120, 240, 320 grit sand paper to fit your sander.. I always buy a roll in a box of self stick sand paper. 100 6" round pc. at about $15 a box.. So $60 for sandpaper

Masking type.. About $8

You can get a good cheaper priced auto body single stage paint like Kirker brand at a pretty good price

1 gallon of primer $43

1 gallon of paint $48-66 depending on tint of blue you want

Hardener $15

1 gallon of reducer $25

1 gallon of prep all/grease and wax remover $26

So about $230|||Couple hundred if you are spray painting. 3-4 if you want to clear coat it.

5-6 if you want to rent a shop grade Paint setup and use automotive paint.
