How to fix a broken brake line on a Chevy Cavalier?

My brake pad went to the flor and the fluid comes out the right back, I think its rusted .Mines a 1998 Chevy Cavelier, do i need to do it my self or tack it to geroge?|||You have to cut a foot or two of the rusted line out of the brake line and replace it with a new section of line you buy at the auto store. The ends of the line remaining on the car have to be single or double flared using a tubing flaring tool after you slide a female brass fitting on the line. Total cost of the job with brake bleeding is about $300.

Likely, if one is gone, the other should be replaced at the same time. Do not try to fix it yourself, it is not a good first repair project because it involves a system that can save you or kill you.|||If the actual line is damaged, you'll need to get the entire brake line replaced.


A difficult task if you don't have the proper tools to bend brake lines.





If it's the brake's "Slave" cylinder, you can take off the slave cylinder, replace it with a new one and bleed the brakes.





If you're not sure, take it to the shop to be safe.|||I would take it into a shop chances are your wheel cylinder needs replacing as well and since its a rear you more than likely have drum brakes, which are a pain.they contain about 2 hold downsprings some retaining springs braking strut ect.Not to mention when you service brakes you do them in a pair either the two front or the two back that way both are appiling equal amounts of breaking force. I wouldnt mess with it id just let a shop deal with it.Reguardless you should still have your front brakes lol thanks to dual mastercylinders :)
